My home computer used to have Flashplayer that worked just fine. Not sure when it stopped but now every time that I am told that I need to download it I go through the process, get told the installation was successful, but when I go to use it I am told it needs to be downloaded. Any ideas what is wrong?

Windows Vista. As I said, it used to work fine but not really sure when it stopped or why.
