Don't run the installer from the DMG.

Right click it and "Show Package Contents".

In Contents/Resources, double click the Adobe Flash Player.pkg

Use the COCOA installer to update.

You're using the "stub installer"... It has no pkg in it

fullvsstub2.jpg

Use THIS one: Flash Player 12.0.0.44 (Mac O SX)

Hi Mike, I've been following this thread because I've had the same problem. I'm hoping you can help me resolve it. When I am at the "Destination Select" stage of the install a message pops up saying my system doesn't meet the requirements of being MAC OS X 10.6 or higher, however my system is OS X 10.8.5. I'm not sure how to resolve this. Thank you.

When using the regular (stub) installer....

Did it get to 50% and then you'd see this?

Eon,

My query was for the other poster, but are you using the GUI updater or the COCOA installer?

Yes, that's exactly what happened. So then I uninstalled it, as per your suggestion. Now that I'm trying to reinstall, it's not reading my computer as version 10.8.5. I think what happened is that I deleted the mach_kernel file, but I don't know how to go about reinstalling that.

Niquessa,

Download this file: "Secrets" pereference pane

1.jpg

And this one: mach_kernel.zip

8.jpg

Install Secrets, and open your System Preferences.

2.jpg

Open the Secrets Preference Pane, and check "Show hidden files"

3.jpg

You'll need to press the "Quit this" button,

4.jpg

and restart Finder, by right clicking the Dock icon.

5.jpg

Then, place the mach_kernel.zip file in the Mac HD directory,

6.jpg

and unzip it. You should see a "faded" mach_kernel file appear.

7.jpg

Trash the zip file.

Reopen your System Preferences and uncheck "Show Hidden files".

Instead of quitting Finder and relaunching it, reboot your Mac.

Your Flash Player installer won't quit anymore.
