I can't install Flash Player?

I can't install Flash Player.  I have a Mac OS Lion 10.75.  After downloading and clicking install, I don't see the preferences box that you "help" says comes up next.  The installation goes to about 50%.  What next?

Download the offline intsaller: Flash Player 12.0.0.44 (Mac OS X) by right clicking and choosing "Download Linked File As".

Then quit your browser.

Mount the DMG, DO NOT run the installer!

Right click it and choose "Show Package Contents".

In Contents/Resources, double click the Adboe Flash Player.pkg

and run the COCOA installer for Flash Player.
