1. Re: Strange Content Viewer problem: downloads do not 'stick'
BobLevine Feb 9, 2014 7:42 AM (in response to Frans van der Geest (ACP))That was a known issue that I was corrected with the latest Adobe Content Viewer on February 3. Update the viewer.

2. Re: Strange Content Viewer problem: downloads do not 'stick'
Frans van der Geest (ACP) Feb 9, 2014 8:39 AM (in response to BobLevine)Bob, as you may have read in my post, I already updated the app.
And, also in my post, I deleted the app after that again from my iPad to re-download from the App Store yesterday and again today (that is really downloaded fresh, not synced from iTunes).
So unless Apple had some old version on-line today this did not fix things on my Retina iPads...

3. Re: Strange Content Viewer problem: downloads do not 'stick'
Frans van der Geest (ACP) Feb 9, 2014 8:58 AM (in response to Frans van der Geest (ACP))No Bob, NOT correct!
If the first page of a folio has an auto starting object status ('slide show') things come to a halt and 'crash' after quiting and restarting Content Viewer on my iPad mini and Air.
So the bug and 'known issue' is not completly fixed it seems...
Sigh...
For now the only solution is to keep Content Viewer 'running in the background' that is not completly quiting on the iPads...

BobLevine Feb 9, 2014 10:14 AM (in response to Frans van der Geest (ACP))Sorry about that. I didn't notice it was you that posted.
I never experienced that issue myself. I'll let the Adobe guys jump in on
this.

6. Re: Strange Content Viewer problem: downloads do not 'stick'
Nathan Marroquin Feb 9, 2014 11:20 AM (in response to Frans van der Geest (ACP))It sounds like you are crashing immediately after starting to view the folio on a retina device and that folio has an auto play slideshow, correct? It sounds like the crash/shutdown may be happening quickly enough such that the folio state does not have enough time to be saved, so that when you relaunch the viewer shows it a not downloaded.
Do you know of this is caused by a low memory shutdown?
If you allow the folio to completely download before viewing do you see the same symptoms?
Also, which regeneration of retina iPads do you have. I see the new iPad mini, but what is the other one? Is it an Air?

Frans van der Geest (ACP) Feb 9, 2014 11:30 AM (in response to Nathan Marroquin)>Do you know of this is caused by a low memory shutdown?
I tested this with Viewer bring the only app running. Free disk is 4gb.
>If you allow the folio to completely download before viewing do you see the same symptoms?
Yes, logged out after downloading to be sure it was on my device.
>Also, which regeneration of retina iPads do you have. I see the new iPad mini, but what is the other one? Is it an Air?
Yes, I have an Air, mini retina and an iPad2.

8. Re: Strange Content Viewer problem: downloads do not 'stick'
Frans van der Geest (ACP) Feb 10, 2014 5:01 AM (in response to Nathan Marroquin)Yup, a day later and keeping Viewer 'alive' in the background, iOS shuts down Viewer after some time of no use as expected.
Opening my Folio again results in a blank page/crash on my Retina devices and the problem persists as written above.
On my iPad2, same iOS 7, all is still well.

9. Re: Strange Content Viewer problem: downloads do not 'stick'
Frans van der Geest (ACP) Feb 10, 2014 5:10 AM (in response to BobLevine)Could someone please change the state firothis discussion as it is NOT solved/answered?
I am not alone in this, see also this discussion that describes the SAME problem:
http://forums.adobe.com/message/6104376#6104376
I have to showcase Folios tomorrow at a DOS training course - not looking forward to this...

Frans van der Geest (ACP) Feb 10, 2014 5:18 AM (in response to Frans van der Geest (ACP))That should have read "a DPS training course". Can not edit my post as I am now on an iPad and editing posts still does not work...

11. Re: Strange Content Viewer problem: downloads do not 'stick'
Nathan Marroquin Feb 10, 2014 1:58 PM (in response to Frans van der Geest (ACP))We have not been able to reproduce this in-house. Someone from my team sent you a private message to get more details and try to figure out what is going on.

12. Re: Strange Content Viewer problem: downloads do not 'stick'
Eddie Oner Feb 11, 2014 10:41 AM (in response to Frans van der Geest (ACP))We were able to reproduce this after F var Der Geest shared the folio. The issue was the Publication Name containing forward slash ("/") character.
Workaround is to remove the forward slash from the Publication Name. I have created a bug for this in our system.
Thanks!

13. Re: Strange Content Viewer problem: downloads do not 'stick'
Frans van der Geest (ACP) Feb 11, 2014 11:14 AM (in response to Eddie Oner)Right! I suggested it in my first post here in the last paragraph:
>Could non-ACSII characters in the title be the cause ( it has a slash and copyright sign)? No, that seems to make no difference...
What threw me off was that another Folio also had a problem and that had no slashes in the name. But hat was on the day that another download problem that hit the servers and that was indeed solved. So there was confusion.
Good to know the solution is simple!

14. Re: Strange Content Viewer problem: downloads do not 'stick'
mitchiedog Mar 16, 2014 1:45 AM (in response to Frans van der Geest (ACP))I'm still affected by this. What is the status?
I have a folio with no upper ASCI characters in its name or any article names. created with Folio viewer version v26. My iPad has the latest ACV (3.4.5) on ipad Retina with IOS 7.1.
Exactly the same symptoms same as described by others - After viewing my folio, if I close the ACV viewer with swipe up on IOS7 and I restart the ACV, I get a grey blank screen & crash, and have to close the app with Swipe up. When I restart ACV, the library updates and I must download the folio again. Then cycle starts again...after download competes I can view the folio....Basically the folio is never saved to the iPad, after its first viewing.
The Folio has an autoplay slideshow in its first article. Don't know if there is anything else relevant I can add to help?

15. Re: Strange Content Viewer problem: downloads do not 'stick'
Neil Enns - Adobe Mar 16, 2014 7:39 AM (in response to mitchiedog)This is fixed in r30, however the r30 release of Adobe Content Viewer hasn't been approved by Apple yet. If you are a pro or enterprise customer you can build the latest version of Adobe Content Viewer for iOS using App Builder rather than waiting for the Apple approval.
