Flash Player 12.0.0.44

Why won't Flash Player work on my HP PC, when I've had version 12.0.0.44 installed and enabled since 2-5-2014?  I always get the message, you need to install the latest version of Flash Player.  Also when using Adobe's website it reports that I have no Flash Player installed.  I don't recall ever having this problem with earlier versions.  Help, please.
