Flash Player not working despite downloading it several times (on IMac using OSX 10.7.5)

I keep getting messages indicating that the Flash Player is out of date.  I can't play/view any videos or much of anything else.
I have downloaded the Flash Player several times on my IMac (using OSX 10.7.5).  It shows that the update is complete, yet I keep getting the SAME message: Flash Player Out of Date. 

Any suggestions?
