Solution for Premiere Pro CS6 Video Playback Bug Yet? Please Help!

I just downloaded the trial version of PPCS6 and everything was going great until I tried to edit a video that was longer than 3 minutes. The video can only play for first 30ish seconds before the frame freezes and I can no longer play anything else. I currently own CS5.5 and it's worked flawlessly for two years with realtime editing at full res with eight AVCHD videos layed on top of each other. I've never had an issue with CS5.5. I did some research and saw that this problem has been going on since at least February of 2013, but no one has found a solution in the forums. I've tried all the suggestions of reinstalling things, updating drivers, downgrading drivers, enabling/disabling mercury playback with my video card, restarts, new projects, restarting the computer and only opening premiere pro, as well as a bunch of other things to no avail.

Having been an entire year since people have been plagued with this problem I'm assuming Adobe has finally released a patch or some kind of workaround to be able to use Premiere Pro to edit more than 3 minutes of video. Fortunately I can just go back to CS5.5, but all the work on CS6 will be lost. If anyone can shed any light on this at all it would be greatly appreciated. I've just spent the past 5 hours trying to get Premiere Pro to work and I'm at my wits end.

      Here are my system specs:

      Windows 7 Enterprise (64bit)

      intel i7-3930k OC'd to 4.5GHz (water cooled)

      16GB 1600MHz RAM

128GB sata II SSD for OS and programs (only adobe programs are installed).

250GB sata III SSD for scratch and video files.

500GB HDD for other media files (not used in this project).

Nvidia GTX 460 SE video card.

I've also tried putting my video files on the HDD, but that didn't make a difference.

This might be useful too. If I open the problematic video files in CS5.5 I don't have any issues and it plays and scrubs buttery smooth all the way through.

Thanks in advance for any help at all!

I'm not aware of any bug that limits people to only 3 minutes of video.  Certainly I never had such an issue with any version of CS6, including the current 6.0.5.

            Hi Jim,

There was an issue with the trial version telling me there weren't any new updates. I went on to the adobe support section and found the manual update download for 6.0.5. I just installed that a few minutes ago and it seems to be working so far. I'll continue editing tonight and see if the problem arrises again. Thanks for pointing out the version number you are using. Here's hoping that my problem is solved!

Alright, so it looks like the most recent update fixed the issue. I'm surprised no one mentioned this in the 5 other posts/forums where people discussed this issue. They all just stopped posting in mid 2013 with no correct answers chosen, nor mention of the update. I'll have to go post there too I guess to help out the next guy who can't get the trial version or initial install to work. Regardless, I have my solution now. Update to at least 6.0.5. Here's one more note to those who can't update from within Premiere Pro. I had to download the update directly from Adobe's website and manually install it. I found the update by searching in the support section of the website. I hope this helps someone else not have to spend a day trying to solve this problem!
