Bill Hunt Feb 23, 2014 4:17 PM (in response to John T Smith)John T,
Just saw a crawl (FoxNews), that indicated that MS was going to introduce a new OS, to fix all the issues with Win 8, and especially for non-touch devices. Looks like they feel that Win 8 is the new Vista... ?
Did not go on line to check out any details, like will it be Win 8.X, or Win 9.

John T Smith Feb 23, 2014 5:40 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)I don't now about WinNEXT, but I did see an online article this morning that Microsoft has made a "drastic" (I think I remember 70%) cut in the price they charge system builders who pre-install Win8x on new computers
My wife "loves" the Win8x start screen, since she now has big icon "tiles" to start her programs... now that Win8.1 has fixed our homegroup problem, I'm OK with it as well
Of course, once past the new start screen and into a traditional program... not one of the APPS you can only get from Microsoft... Win8x looks and runs just like Win7 (at least externally... I'm sure there are things inside the OS that are different than the Win7 I use)
Technology marches on... like it or not

Steven L. Gotz Feb 24, 2014 6:26 AM (in response to John T Smith)My wife has become accustomed to clicking on the desktop icon and then using the Win 8 PC as though it was a Win 7 machine.
But then again she only uses a browser, a mail program, and a couple of Adobe apps.
