Application not Selected

I have an application I am trying to record and to activate the record button I have to click out of the application, which causes it to become inactive and I am unable to capture the screen shot. I have also tried on auto-record - it is like the application is locking Captivate out somehow. I have numerous other similiar type applications and have no issue at all with them. Help please!

Just to clarify my earlier statement. I think the proper term is when the other application has focus it is blocking Captivate from actually working. By working I mean it is not allowing it to capture the screen shots.
