1. Re: Need to keep signing in....
twenty_one Mar 9, 2014 3:09 PM (in response to John_Picton)This is a bug, and there are lots of posts about this in the CC forum. You don't even have to do a search, just look at the first page and you find several (including one started by me).
What seems to happen is that some minor change in hardware status triggers the sign-out. With me, it's connecting an external USB disk. As long as I don't do that I'm fine. Others have experienced it by switching network connection.
There are a number of fixes floating about, all from "staff" posters. Try them and see. For me nothing has worked - except not connecting the USB disk. That works.
For now I'm just sitting this one out, waiting for an update or more definite fix.

I am using Windows 7 64bit and have a subscription to the Photographers Program.
My concern is - if, for whatever reason, I loose Internet access I wont be able to access PS as it is telling me I cant use it until I sign in. My understanding was that I should only have to "check in" with Adobe every 30 days or so. Up until yesterday I was permanently running the CC app and checking for updates every few days so my machine should be considered to have checked in.
When you sign in your copy of cc is activated for some period of time. When the time is up you need to sign in again to keep your copy activated. I do not think checking for update counts as signing in. That would require Adobe update server to communicate with their activation servers to refresh your activation. However you should not have to sign in each time you use Photoshop. If you do contact Adobe support. We here are users like you we do not work for Adobe

John_Picton Mar 9, 2014 3:15 PM (in response to twenty_one)Thanks twenty_one that is helpful.
I was aware that others were experiencing the same or similar problems (in fact about a month ago I even replied to one of the threads - not that I was experiencing the problem at the time).
I hadnt seen the suggestion that it might be linked to a hardware change (however minor) - I dont recall plugging anything in except a USB memory stick that I have been using for ages.
I will sit tight (like you) and hope for a fix soon. At least I do have access.
Thanks again.
Cheers

Thanks for taking the time to reply - yes I absolutely know that you are a user just like me (I have said that a few times in my responses as well), however it is worth asking the community as they often know the work around's and respond far quicker than Adobe ever could.
I do get what you are saying about the activation servers not constantly checking but as I said I leave my CC signed-in all the time. If I follow what you say I should be signing-out and then signing back-in every now and then.
My Photoshop was updated when the last update came out (certainly within the past 30 days) so I would have expected my 30 day count not to extend before that at the very least.
Please don't think I am shooting the messenger (as I said I get it that you are not Adobe Support) I really do appreciate your response.
In the light of the reply from Station_two it would appear that I am not the only one this is happening to - lets hope something is sorted soon. In the meantime I will put up with it until it gets really annoying and then if necessary I will contact Adobe direct.
Cheers

That seems to be a recent development - the "official" remedy now is something called IMSLib Replacer, a command-line .exe that is targeted specifically at this. It's here in case you want to give it a go:

Before that the advice was to delete a couple of files and folders in your user account. And a couple more.
Yes, this is what I would call a very serious bug. Anything that threatens to lock the user out and throw away the key (if you don't have a live connection so that you can sign back in) is something that should have top priority. But as long as you're connected you'll be fine.

6. Re: Need to keep signing in....
John_Picton Mar 9, 2014 3:42 PM (in response to twenty_one)Now that is very helpful! Thankyou.
I have book marked the page and will have a proper go at this tomorrow (possibly) as I am off for some shut-eye shortly.
I had a quick look and it appears to be the same thing (or pretty much).
As you said I have Internet access so it (at the moment) is at worst inconvenient.
This doesn't appear to happen on my Laptop so it would appear to be a local issue rather than an account issue.
Thanks again.

John_Picton Mar 9, 2014 3:59 PM (in response to JJMack)Thanks JJMack - in which case, like you, I might wait. As I said previously at least I can use the software.

John_Picton Mar 11, 2014 6:37 AM (in response to JJMack)Just as a point of interest this page..... http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-network-issues.html actually says that the activation server DOES call in every day and that "Signing out and signing back in (while online) just before going offline for a long period ensures that the software will work for at least 99 days period without needing to connect." direct quote from page.
