Have installed new ver.12 on iMac 10.8.5  but when I check flash Player in computer it still shows older ver. 11.4.4

Yet when I check version on Adobe site it says ver.12 was installed.

Where can I find (folder location) of the new version installed?

Untitled 2.pngHi Mike,

Thanks for info.

I did all the steps and my computer states I have new ver.12 but when I open the icon it says it's  ver.11.4.4?

I did not however delete the the Flash Payer Install Manager folder... could this be the problem?

Could very well be.

You say, "when I open the icon".

Do you mean the Preference Pane

1.jpg

or do you have Flash Player installed in your Application (the standalone)?

I have it in the preference pane and not in the apps folder.

Which way should I use?

As an App or in the preference pane run by safari?

What are the pro's & con's?

The app is a standalone player, it has no effect on Safari. You NEED the plug-in for Safari or ANY web content.

What you have with the preference pane is the Global Settings manager. If THAT still says 11.4, then you need to do the Clean Install again and trash the install manager folder when you do it.

Everything with the Plugin is fine now.

Thanks Mike,

But what is the standalone used for and should it be installed as well?

The standalone (Flash Player 12 Projector) is for viewing SWF and some FLV files offline. Mostly, Flash Developers use it.
