Anit,
Running Windows 8.1 64bit. Trying to run Homesite+ 5.5. I have to enter the serial number three times t get it to run and then after a few minutes it crashes.
I have this running on a server also with the same serial number; however, I never use them both at the same time.
Thanks,
Warren Wagner

Here’s the serial number I am using:
WPD700-58202-88194-29915
I would be happy to buy another number or whatever.
Thanks,
Warren

Windows 8 can be a frustrating OS. Why not go back to using Windows 7? I
tried Windows 8 for development and gave up on it. The pain of the upgrade
outweighs the benefits. Some of the essential development applications I
have, notably certain versions of SQL Server and Visual Studio, won't
install on Windows 8. I like HomeSite and I still use it, but you should
really give ColdFusion Builder a look. Someone who is used to HomeSite
should find CF Builder more enjoyable than Dreamweaver.

I can’t go back to Windows 7! I have CF Bulider 2 trial installed and find it really bloated and lame, especially with the search, search and replace functions. It does not let you specify a specific folder or subfolders! That in itself SUCKS!
It is also curious that I have 8.1 on my 64bit notebook and Homesite 5.5 works fine there.
Why in the heck did Adobe abandon Homesite! It’s like the “New Coke” debacle back in the ‘90’s !!!

I started off with, and have been a big fan of, HomeSite. However, I do believe it belongs to the past.
ColdFusion has moved on. New tags and functions have come in, and the language has changed drastically. Continuing to use HomeSite is like swimming upstream. With the currents getting faster by the day.
If you want to safeguard your children's future you will have to move with the times. As Mike says, you should give CFBuilder a chance. An alternative, which is close in functionality to HomeSite, is CFEclipse. What is more, it is free!
