Advice on a workflow for two computers sharing drives

    KeithGoldstein Community Member

We have two MacBook Pros that we edit with. We have a few Project drives that we keep the projects and media on, and each computer has a Cache drive where the cache and render files are stored. Computer 1 is typicallly used for prep, and Computer 2 is mostly used for editing.

Our problem is when my boss is editing a project on one drive, and I need to make some changes on another project on a different drive, but they both have render files on HIS cache drive. We are constantly switching drives back and forth.

My idea is to start pairing a project drive and a cahce drive together, and they are never separated. That way, I know that will not break and renders by separating the drives.

Does anyone have any input on how to deal with this kind of situation? It's seems rather messy.
