Unable to re-install Flash Player 12

I have Windows 7 w/SP 1 and IE 10. Flash Player quit working morning of Mach 12; did work the evening before. I un-installed Flash Player after numerous attempts of following the help on enabling it. Then was unable to re-install. I have followed the uninstall/install instructions on the Flash Player web site many times without success.

As a side note this is a fresh install of windows after re-formatting the HDD the last week of February this year.

Thank you very much! Of all the stupid little things, Shockwave had been disabled. Enabling it fixed the problem.

Hello,

When you say "Then was unable to re-install." What do you mean?  Was there an error during installation, or did it install, but Flash does not display?

Please post the contents of the FlashInstall.log file?  If you have a 64-bit OS, there will be two files, please post both.  Locations are:

  • C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash
  • C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash

If the files are very large, you can post just the last portion, from March.

Thank you in advance.

No error messages displayed as long as I shut down IE at some point. Flash does not display and is not "found" by windows.

Hi UncaPathy,

The log files indicate a successful installation with no errors. Have you tried the troubleshooting steps posted at http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html, specifically the 'post-installation issues' section?
