Hue is independent of saturation and lightness, color is not. If you picture the color sphere, hue is just the line circumscribing the equator (aka the color wheel). Color is the whole three-dimensional sphere, with gray in the centre, white at the north pole and black at the south pole.

ksemple Mar 25, 2014 8:08 AM (in response to twenty_one)Totally agree with you, for example you might have a Purple Hue, but changing the lightness/or saturation of that Hue will produce a different color or colors that share the same hue. So they are not the same thing.
