HI Wolfram,
The error message was so small I couldn't read the actual error.
Even zoomed in, it is a blur.
Would you write exact error? Looks like it tells you what module it crashed on with .cpp line the the problem started.
One thought is that you may want to turn on software rendering instead of GPU. Sometimes on some cards, GPU runs out of memory and things like this happes if the video card is ont communicating with AME.

pictures_in_motion Mar 26, 2014 9:55 AM (in response to Nariman Sodeifi)Hello Nariman,
thanks for your answer.
I send you a good quality Screenshot and my error logs.
It says:
I already tried only to render on CPU but it also crashes...
Do you have any idea?
Best regards,
Woflram

pictures_in_motion Mar 26, 2014 11:52 PM (in response to pictures_in_motion)Hello Narinam,
sorry I just answered to you mail and so the layout doesn't work here in the forum.
the error message is: [..\..\Src\LegacyTime.cpp-101]
I tried just to render with GPU acceleration and without, in both cases the media encoder crashes.
I also tried it on a second machine: same problem...
It would be great if you'd have any idea.
Best regards,

while in AME, please go to Help > About Adobe Media Encoder.
1. Exactly what version does it say you have?
2. what happens if you open other types of files like .MOV or WMV and convert to Cineform?
3. what happens if you take your Cineform files and convert them to other formats like H264?
4. How large or small are your files?
5 Are these stills or movies ? How many minutes?
6. Are you using 3rd party plugin to import and export Cineform?
The above questions and your response helps us determine where the problem is.
Thanks,
Nariman

pictures_in_motion Mar 27, 2014 4:27 AM (in response to Nariman Sodeifi)Hello Nariman,
thanks for your answer
1. Exactly what version does it say you have?
Version 7.2.0.43
2. what happens if you open other types of files like .MOV or WMV and convert to Cineform?
I tested it with mov- and wmv-files:
No, same problem: [..\..\Src\LegacyTime.cpp-101]
3. what happens if you take your Cineform files and convert them to other formats like H264?
This works fine.
4. How large or small are your files?
The size of the files is between 70MB and 300MB, but 90 % of them are between 90MB and 130 MB.
5 Are these stills or movies ? How many minutes?
All items are pre-keyed movies (which I exported from after effects via media encoder to the 4k-cineform files). The length of all files is between 2 und 5 seconds.
6. Are you using 3rd party plugin to import and export Cineform?
I have got the cineform studio premium codec installed. It shows up directly in the media encoder options. So I don't use anything else than media encoder and the cineform codec

HI,
I'm not sure if this is an issue with cineform plugin you installed or communication between plugin and AME that is causing this. But it sounds like you can encode your cineform files to other formats and you can also convert other formats to Cineform.
To get you going since you have a Friday deadline, I recommend converting your Cineform file to
Quicktime MOV and then convert those MOV files to Cineform resolution you need. This get you going wit this project.
I also recommend you contact 3rd party plugin manufacturer with this issue. Since the heavy lifting is being done on their side, they may know what is going on. Maybe 3 of us together can come up with a longer term solution for this.

pictures_in_motion Mar 27, 2014 10:34 AM (in response to Nariman Sodeifi)Hi Nariman,
thanks for your answer. With one point I'm not sure if I get it right: you say I should convert all files to Quicktime MOV. But how should I convert the Quicktime files back to cineform? The Media Encoder Crashes on that action...

One thing I noticed in your screen shots is that your CineForm preset has audio disabled, but the actual watch folder outputs in the Queue show as "Custom" which means their settings have changed. Also, the Encoding panel shows "Audio: 48000 Hz" for the currently encoding output so it looks like audio is being re-enabled during encoding.
You might want to try adding those same assets directly to the queue with your video-only CineForm presetand and see if encoding fails in that sccenario. If not, try it again with audio enabled and see if the crash returns.

I'm afraid your alpha channel will not be preserved if you convert to QuickTime "None (Uncompressed RGB 8-bit)" video codec.
Can you send me one of your sources? I will try to see if I can find a workaround for you.
I've seen many problems with Cineform Codec and they'd have to be fixed by the plugin maker.
As for the problem where you import a bunch of files and AME hangs -> it is very likely that it will eventually recover and allow you to encode. Of course with 2000 sources, it can potentially take days...

pictures_in_motion Mar 27, 2014 11:54 AM (in response to ivansull)Hi Larry,
thanks for your hint with the audio settings.
I tried: audo export off and audio export 48kHz, even the clips don't contain audio. In both cases the media encoder crashes...

12. Re: Watch Folder doesn't work with cineform codec - help needed
Jake Segraves - GoPro Mar 31, 2014 10:20 AM (in response to pictures_in_motion)Wolfram sent me a sample file via CineForm support and i was abe to successfully convert it using AME using the same settings that he used. I even used a network folder location as indicated in his screenshots and again had success. We are discussing wheter or not this is a codec issue. I'm suggesting that since i am able to convert successfully, it is not a codec issue. Wolfram points out that it only happens when doing hundreds of files at a time and when he attempts this with h.264, it works. So he is suggesting that based on that, it is in fact codec related.
I'm not sure what my next step in troubleshooting this would be short of attempting a 200 file export of my own. I think it would be helpful we knew what the AME crash was referring to. It references "LegacyTime.cpp-001". What is that? What circumstances would cause that to crash? Why would one codec result in that kind of a crash and not another?

Jake Segraves - GoPro Apr 2, 2014 11:59 AM (in response to Jake Segraves - GoPro)Adobe folks, can you hop back into this conversation and tell us what "LegacyTime.cpp-001" is referring to? and what circumstances would cause that to fail? Also, I'm curious to know if you have been able to reproduce Wolfram's issue with the CineForm codec.
Thanks!

Hi Jake,
This is what our developer said regarding that error.
"We are getting framerate of 0 in one of the calls, coming from exporter, and that makes our code to stop (LegacyTime.cpp line 101)"
I'll send you private message and maybe we can work on this between our two companies and figure this out.

pictures_in_motion Apr 27, 2014 4:10 AM (in response to Nariman Sodeifi)Hello,
I just wanted to ask, if you could solve the problem or if you have any workaraound for me? My client is quite angry because I recommended him the use of the cineform codec and by now he has about 4.500 videoclips that need to be converted. If there is no solution I have to convert all of them manually clip by clip what I would like to avoid ;-)
Best regards,

Does anybody have an idea on how to solve this?
