It seems like the elements are on Stage are treated like static classes. So you can't call methods as the methods are non static.
Put the Movieclips in library and attach them on Stage it will work fine.
This is how i have been able to make it work.
Hello and thank you for trying to help. This is still not working. Perhaps someone has a sample code or a simpler way of doing this.
Here is the situation: I have to movie clips on the main timeline on two different layers in Scene 1. I have a button in the first frame of mensroomMovie (an instance of mensroom_mc) that when pressed I want mensroomMovie to advance to frame 10 as well as womensroomMovie (an instance of womensroom_mc, I want it to go to frame 10). If anyone can see what is wrong or what I need I am grateful.

I get an error message that says something about an unidentified method. I think I do have my movieclips in the library but I don not understand what it is you are recommending to me. thanks again
