We are wanting to set a reflective task in a course using maybe the short answer question, or an essay question. What we want is to be able to view the response from the student in the learning dashboard. Is this possible at all for the student to submit a small essay and the response to save to the students profile.

Hi,

As you want, there are two types of question. Short answers and essay type.

Short Answer

You can insert a quiz question in presenter and see the details in dashboard.

Dashboard > Click on Student Tab > Select module correspoding to student you want to see > In Knowledge check graph click on student score > You can see the answer in quiz detail.

Drawback is while creating a question you need to give answer and student needs to give the exact same answer.

Essay Type answer

You can enable collaboration from widget.

As author you can post one question in published output.

Learners should answer the question which you have posted. Answer limit is 4000 characters.

To view answers, you need to take the course and see individual answers.

As of now we are not showing answers given by studen in learning dashboard. We are working on that feature and it will be out soon.

Hope I have answered you question.

Thanks for your reply.

I don't think this is going to work for us as the answer we need is to be an open ended answer. We currently have the students go to another peice of software called PebblePad where the student records their essays and thoughts on a activity that we have set for them, but we wanted this to be seamless within presenter and for the student not to go to an external application..
