t4i Rendering Issues from PC on Mac

      The Questions:

What am I doing wrong?  Am I misunderstanding channels or Adaptive timelines? H.264 issues?

      My Workflow:

      - I have been shooting with a t4i, but recording sound on a seperate voice recorder, using a monitor out 1/8" / line-in 1/8" from a Wireless lav system.

      - I bring the audio and video in seperately and then edit and it has been working, but it takes a bit before I can jump into actual editing.

      - Doing this for a few months.

      My Attempt:

I tried to record audio the same way, but this time I tried using an XLR to 1/8" as well to record the sound straight into the t4i.

The audio from the t4i clips were really low (-38 dB) and faint.  But I fiddled with the channel mixer and when I took my left (or right) channel down to about -38 dB, the fidelity returned (on one side) to -1 and sounded great.  I then realized that the sound might be acting weird because of my sequence settings, so I started from scratch with adaptive sound and the clips worked flawlessly, soundwise.

      The Result:

It sounded and looked great before render on the PC.  It sounded and looked great after render on the PC.

But certain clips (within the rendered file) sound like they did (on Mini Mac / iMac / Macbook Pro) when I had my original issue (down to -38 dB-ish).

      The Quickfix:

I changed up the channels like I did before and it sounded better-ish, but only on one channel!

      The Files:

      Scrub as necessary...

Sounds awful on any Mac's Quicktime: https://www.dropbox.com/s/799wib14xpx92do/thePoint-04-06-2014.mp4 ~170 megs
