internet explorer 8 failed to install flash player: failed to register

I have internet explorer 8, windows XP svc pac 3. I received msg to update flash player. It failed to update; error msg failed to register. I uninstalled flash play and tried to reinstall. got same messages. I need simple instructions on how to install flash player. Your bolgs on this subject did not make sense to me.

Try using the MSI installer - it sometimes gets around the permission problems causing this error: http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_13_active_...

Can you give me a link to the page that makes no sense to you?

Pat, the link you provided resulted in complete installation. Thank you very much. I had spent 2 days trying to find a way to reinstall the flash player and get help from your web pages. I see no need to select the treads that I did not understand.
