Removing Word formatting

The regular software release documents are auto-generated in Word. I import these into RoboHelp 4.1 and generate HTMLHelp. I can usually live with the enormous amount of junk code (regardless if I first convert to HTML, then import), but have discovered that anything generated in Word 2003 that includes a table/s is corrupted during import.

Is there any way around this excess code that Word generates? Is there a method for "stripping out" this excess code before or during the import? Thx.

Take a look at my site. There are several topics on importing from Word.
