number of video previews goes up infinitely during render

    Shutterlab Community Member

During a render in my timeline the number of video previews to be rendered climbs infinitely and so the render never completes.

This footage is a combination of mts files shot on a Sony FS700, and 4k files shot with a recorder using the same camera. It seems that Premiere is able to render half of the timeline and then nothing beyond a certain point. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

          Hi Shutterlab,

Please mention the exact version of Premiere Pro with the operating system that you have and the make and model of the Graphics Card installed on your machine.

          Regards,

This sounds like a known issue in 7.2.1. In my testing of that issue, the key elements were:

               a) the medias' dimensions are greater than the sequence's [4K RED clips in a 1080P sequence]

               b) a transition from a clip that's scaled via the intrinsic Scale effect to another that's scaled via Scale to Frame Size.

If these conditions do not apply in your case, I'd be very interesting in getting a copy of the project.

Two workarounds are to avoid mixing methods of scaling video of adjacent track items, or don't add a transition to such a hybrid case.

The engineering team (of which I'm a member) is investigating on this issue.

I just posted this problem under a new thread:

Rendering effects on timeline loops in Premiere Pro

              before I found this thread.

My environment specifics can be seen in that post.

Mark, your post gave the the idea on how to track this down.

In this particular timeline I had non-anamorphic 720P 29.97 footage on an anamorphic 23.97 timeline. I also had a short AE clip which was 23.97 square pixels. I removed the AE clip and changed the timeline to 29.97 square and the render effects worked.

It sounds like you're on the right track but it may be more pervasive than your post indicated. It may be that ANY mismatch between a clip and the sequence setting can cause this problem.

I hope you get this one fixed soon - it sure puts a crimp in my editing!

Just checking in here, was having the same issue for a while now.

Only happened on occasion and I could never narrow it down to one cause.

Figured out today, if I use Adobe's built in titler for anything graphic/ text and change it's position vie the  motion tab in the source monitor.

I get the infinite render problem. If I remove the title or reset to it's original position the render issue goes away.

The update that was released today (2014.0.1, aka 8.0.1) includes a fix for a bug in this vein. We can't promise that it covers all scenarios that could lead to the number of video previews growing infinitely. If anybody here runs into a remaining case, please let us know.
