1. Re: 880m with 4800mq VS 870m with i7-4940MX
Rick Gerard Apr 20, 2014 7:44 AM (in response to kandiimann)If it's just for After Effects and Premiere Pro you don't need to spend anywhere that kind of money. If you are using the card for other things then check with the manufacturers of that software. For AE and PPro, check the approved list and stop worrying about a GPU making siginificant changes in the way the program works. All approved and tested cards have some advantage, an unapproved card is asking for compatibility problems, and your computers true power, bus speed, and available cores have much more to do with making video than a graphics card does.

2. Re: 880m with 4800mq VS 870m with i7-4940MX
cc_merchant Apr 20, 2014 9:28 AM (in response to kandiimann)Definitely the 4940. AE is almost entirely CPU bound and the difference between the 870 and 880 is small.

kandiimann Apr 20, 2014 8:39 PM (in response to cc_merchant)ok thanks for your responses, and do you guys think the boost in performance from the 4800mq to i7-4940MX will be worth the extra $300? will the difference be significant or hardly noticable?

4. Re: 880m with 4800mq VS 870m with i7-4940MX
kandiimann Apr 20, 2014 8:51 PM (in response to kandiimann)basically upgrading 4800MQ to i7-4910MQ is $245 then i7-4910MQ to i7-4940MX is another $550 and the difference seems to be .2GHz, what do you think i should go with?

JEShort01 Apr 21, 2014 2:55 AM (in response to kandiimann)My vote would be to save the money for something else and go with the 4800MQ. The price for Intel CPUs goes up steeply when you get to the fastest models in their lineup. Putting the savings into bigger / faster SSDs would likely benefit AE and Premiere more than the minor increase in CPU would.
