    Photomerge: arrange image sequence manually

    G.Hoffmann Community Member

      I have sequences of three or four overlapping photos for a panorama of a shop-window, which

      consists of three rather similar segments by columns.

      Automatic assembly by Photomerge fails in CS2 and CS6 – the single shots are considerably

      misinterpreted with respect to the perspective (which needs much time and ends without warning).

      But Photomerge CS2 with a manually arranged image sequence works as expected.

      Can we choose the manual mode in CS6 as well?

          I do not think that is an option in CS6 Photomerge. Post the 3 or 4 images do they have good overlap not just a little bit of overlap, a good bit of overlap????

          Photomerge was updated with a new implementation and its UI in now different then the old CS2 plug-in implementation.

            Thanks for the confirmation – in newer versions of Photomerge the sequence of shots

            cannot be arranged manually. In my opinion, this is a mistake. The photographer knows

            the sequence – why should he leave the riddling & fiddling to the poor software?

            Yes, the three or four shots are clearly overlapping, but this doesn't help much, if the

            image content is almost the same.

            I found an intermediate solution:

            Given are from left to right four shots P1, P2, P3, P4.

            a) Photomerge P1+P2=>P12 and save

            b) Photomerge P3+P4=>P34 and save

            c) Photomerge P12+P34=>P1234

            Again, the manual arrangement is a very reasonable option – should be re-established

            (but not for me - I'm sticking to CS6).

              If you really want to stitch images together.  You should look into  good stitching software designed for stitching. They are much better then poor photographer that know the sequence of image.  The have many tools the Photographer can use to help in the stitching process to improve things.

              Photomerge does not even support fisheye lenses but fits well with Photoshop jack of all thing thing.
