1. Re: Should I retain (discs of) all previous software I sequentially upgraded from?
Ned Murphy Apr 26, 2014 4:25 AM (in response to jerdenberg)It's usually a good idea to hold onto the discs and the packaging they came in, even if to just store them away so that they collect years of dust. If by chance you ever need one of them again, you won't have to wonder if you can download it somewhere, and you will have the original serial number information as well.

jerdenberg Apr 27, 2014 11:18 PM (in response to Ned Murphy)Yes, it's the safest to keep everything, but I would rather get rid of old stuff I'm sure I'll never use again (like the Photoshop versions preceding the purchase of Design Standard CS5). That kind of material has been piling up since I started purchasing software (on 5.25" floppies no less), and it would be nice if only proof of purchase+serial would have to be present for all but the last of the previous upgrade steps.
Splitting my original question,
(a) What installation materials (if any) of previous upgrades am I legally required to save? Or is the fact that I have proof of purchase and the serial numbers sufficient?
(b) If I re-install CS6 and/or CS5 on a new computer (after deactivating on the present one), what will the installation program require additional to the serial number? Only the serial number of the program it was upgraded from?

3. Re: Should I retain (discs of) all previous software I sequentially upgraded from?
Rave Apr 27, 2014 11:28 PM (in response to jerdenberg)Hi jerdenberg,
The serial number and Order number for the older version will suffice. You can get rid of the older discs if you NEVER intend to use it again.
Also Adobe no longer provides the installation media for Legacy products. So it's your call if you want to archive the discs Just in case you need them in future, else you can discard it.
If you reinstall CS6 / CS5 on a new computer, the installation program will only require the current and the older serial number to validate the program it was upgraded from.
Hope this answers your questions.
Regards,
Rave
