Conditional logic for Search button/pane?

We want to display the WebHelp output inside a portal. The same WebHelp output is also distributed on a CD. We are working with only version of the WebHelp output which has the Contents, Index and Search buttons. These three buttons make sense when someone views the WebHelp output from the CD. However, the portal has its own Search that can be used to search the WebHelp output; thus we would like to hide the Search button in the WebHelp output.

Since I don't want to generate a new output with Search hidden; I want to maintain only one version, is there some conditional logic that I can add to the WebHelp output that prevents the Search from getting displayed in the WebHelp output if this output is inside a portal?

Thanks,
K

What is so difficult about generating two outputs from the same source?

You can add another webhelp layout which is a copy of the existing one, just right click it and select duplicate. In the copy you deselect the search button.

However, once the user is in the help, have you considered the usability when they have to go back to the portal to search. Also consider is the portal search just for the help and whether that might be a user requirement.

Thanks for your response, Peter. We did consider that option, but due to resource issues (and other logistic issues that I cannot specify), we want to stick with just one ouput.

Thanks,
