    New forum look.

      At first I was satisfied to see that my main observation had been fixed : it's now much easier to find answers in the faqs. The faqs in the old look were not visible enough.

      Apart from that, as a contributor to help solve Elements problems, I am surprised the new look has so many glitches. Not even a beta version in my opinion .

       

      I just updated my profile, and now, instead of my screen name, my full name appears 'visible to everyone'. (Unless that option does not work as designed...)

       

      If I get as many satisfaction enquiries as I got those last weeks, I'll be really very negative this time. The new contents view does not allow me to select rapidly the interesting posts. The absence of the number of posts, views and the author of the last answer does not encourage me to take part in the discussion.

      I don't care about the introduction of 'social media' tools either (old school!).

          Michel,

           

          I think you only see your full name because you are logged in as yourself.

           

          I still see you as MichelBParis.

           

          I think that if you weren't logged in, you would see your screen name.

           

          Not sure why they set it up that way.

            Thanks Brian.

            That's something I suspected, but when you go into your profile, you have the ability to see the posts depending on the level of the user. That's that feature which does not preview as designed.

              It seems to me that it is intended that only the screen name appear in the posts. It does not work that way, however. See here in the Privacy tab:

              Hopefully the webmaster will fix this.

                What I am seeing is that many competent and helpful contributors are seriously disappointed and risk getting away from the forums.

                That was my own reaction.

                The Elements Forum was a major asset for Adobe to compensate for the scarce direct help to consumers. The new layout makes trying to help others very difficult, and I don't think correcting a number of bugs and retrieving part of the old history will be enough to avoid helpful contributors to leave the forum.
