how to up-convert movies from director 11 to director 12?

Open the existing D11 file in D12 and follow the prompt/s. The file will now run in D12 and you won't be able to open it in D11. That said, there are very few changes between these 2 versions of Director, with the only reason for a file-version revision being something 3D related (I don't recall exactly what)
