These are older, so MAY not pertain to Premiere Pro CC

Studiomaker3 Apr 20, 2014 9:01 PM (in response to John T Smith)The Quicktime version installed on my computer is 7.7.4, so it isn't something to do with Quicktime X. That again applies to the 7.7.1 problem, as I'm not using that version. Also, nothing ever shows up to do with MSVCR71.dll, especially considering that's a message that comes up at startup, where as my one just says 'Adobe Premiere Pro CC has stopped working' and any info comes from the event viewer.

Studiomaker3 Apr 20, 2014 9:26 PM (in response to Studiomaker3)Another thing that might be worth mentioning, this is only a problem that takes place with CC, when I try running CS6, it starts up fine.

aWITHaK May 5, 2014 5:42 PM (in response to Studiomaker3)I am having this exact same problem. I have also tried creating a new user and launching the program there with the same error. I've done a full reinstall of Premiere Pro CC as well as the previous mentioned troubleshooting tasks.
Win 7 64-bit, intel i7 4770k, nVidia GTX 680 in 3-way SLi, 32GB of RAM.

aWITHaK May 28, 2014 4:47 PM (in response to Studiomaker3)Tried everything and finally got it working today.
The solution in my situation was:
Install Service Pack 1 for Windows 7

6. Re: Premiere Pro CC crashes at splash screen - Adobe QT32 Server and ImageRenderer.dll
CautiousPossum Jul 10, 2014 7:44 PM (in response to Studiomaker3)Worked for me!
I encountered same issue when I updated Premiere CC back in April. Spend hours on phone to Adobe. Encountered same problem when I installled Premiere CC 2014. Both crashing immediately on splash screen,
Adobe support solution was to uninstall Premiere then re-install via the CC desktop app, watch the installation progress and click stop when it says "updating" (Around 95% if I remember rightly). Premiere would then work as long as I didn't update it. A poor solution that still annoyed me.
So I bought a new video card, reformatted HD's and re installed Windows 7 still to no avail.
Until I read the above post and installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1 has solved the problem! I am very happy to have found this post but still am unsure what was causing problem that the service pack corrected!?
Hope this works for others experiencing same problem!

cscooper2013 Jul 11, 2014 7:07 AM (in response to aWITHaK)SP1 was released over 3 years ago!! So I'm very curious, why were you running without SP1? I ask because I, too defer updates (whether PC or Mac), but not for 3 years.
As for Windows, my general rule is this:
1. Upon any new version release (i.e. Windows 7, Windows 8, etc) wait until the first Service Pack (usually around a year) before upgrading. Period. (That may be exessive, but I don't NEED the first-year blues of any new OS). When the first Service Pack is released, in this case SP1, buy the latest OS WITH SP1.
Perform Monthly updates, ALWAYS one month behind. Windows receives critical updates on the second and/or fourth Tuesday of every month. I'll usually check with Windows update on the second Wednesday of the month and then...
1. Clone my system drive before an update (so I can get back up and running within minutes of any potential catastrophe; hasn't happened yet. I don't always do this step)
2. Install only the Critical Updates.
3. DO NOT install any Optional Updates, unless you know you need them (read the bulletin corresponding to each update, if you have time. If you don't, just skip all Optional Updates).
4. NEVER (or very rarely) install any drivers that Windows Update suggests — especially when it comes to your display drivers, gpu, monitors and other critical editing equipment.
Next make sure you have the latest drivers for your GPU (in practice, I usually keep my GPU drivers as long as they're working for me and I'll update them if Premiere Pro is acting funny). Only obtain these drivers through your GPU manufacturer's website (i.e. Nvidia.com).
When upgrading Premiere Pro it is an essential part of my process to clone my system SSD. In all of this, it is usually the Premiere Pro updates I regret installing. It's too bad Adobe's new forum layout doesn't accomodate for sorting by "most viewed" and "most replied" threads like it used to. I used to be able to take a look at this information about two weeks after a CC update release and check whether the major reported problems/bugs/features would likely apply to my system or not. Now, I simply wait until the next upgrade and then make sure I update to one update behind the current one. This way, if I do run into any problems, at least I have one upgrade path forward I can try.
