John T Smith May 10, 2014 8:13 PM (in response to owiseone61755)Ah... you are asking people who do video editing for a living how to modify a commercial video?
Do you have written permission from the copyright holder to do that?

owiseone61755 May 10, 2014 8:37 PM (in response to John T Smith)I'm not interested in debating copyright law and fair use with you.
To any other viewers, could I use multiple garbage mattes and animate them frame by frame?

Ann Bens May 11, 2014 2:43 AM (in response to owiseone61755)That will involve a lot of work.
I think you are better of making the spraypaint and shattering wall in AE yourself and put it on any background.
Lots of tutorials on the web on making animated text and shatter effect.

Steven L. Gotz May 11, 2014 5:55 AM (in response to Ann Bens)I agree with Ann.
If you take a frame of the finished, spray painted wall, just before the shattering, and you used After Effects to shatter it, then you could do whatever you want. Trying to keyframe that would be rotoscoping one frame at a time. It would be faster to learn to use the Shatter effect in After Effects.

owiseone61755 May 17, 2014 5:57 PM (in response to Steven L. Gotz)Thank you guys for the responses. I don't have access to after effects right now so I ended up keyframing mattes frame by frame. Took about an hour but it got a nice result. I like using the original footage.
