1. Re: New Mac Pro conflicts with CC
Jim Curtis May 28, 2014 10:21 PM (in response to Jimcoulter)I probably can't be much help except:
"could it be an issue with my Aja Kona 3G card or with my new Mac Pro???"
You can rule this out at least by uninstalling the driver and the hardware, and see if your issue disappears.
Otherwise, I read in another forum about a user who has a new MacPro, and he said it's working well for him.

jimga Jun 2, 2014 9:01 AM (in response to Jimcoulter)Same problem here. We just purchased a couple of maxed-out Mac Pros for our corporate video producers. Premiere Pro CC is practically unusable. Terrible performance, weird colored artifacts, stuttering playback, crashing app. We are so pissed considering what we spent on these systems. We are actually going back to our iMacs since they worked flawlessly. No unusual hardware here. Just external Thunderbolt storage. Some people suspect incompatibility with the D700 GPUs but I have heard of the same problems with the D500s. Also, we have been told by Adobe it is an issue with 10.9.3 although we are still on 10.9.2. Guess will have to wait for a fix. Unbelievable.

benita Jun 2, 2014 9:10 AM (in response to Jimcoulter)We just bought two new Mac Pros for our office too and they won't open any of the Premiere projects from the older machines, saying that codecs in the sequences do not exist. Since we haven't been able to work on the projects that we still live from last week, we haven't been able to test the performance of the Mac Pros in premiere yet, going back to the older machines until they projects will open on the Mac Pros. Adobe tech support told me that the sequences were "corrupt" and that's why the projects wouldn't open. I found that hard to believe.

Jimcoulter Jun 2, 2014 9:45 AM (in response to benita)Hi Jimga- glad to know I'm not the only one having stuttery playback issues! I have been following several Adobe Forum posts regarding the new Mac Pro and very few people are complaining about the stuttering playback of video and audio. Mostly seeing posts about the rendering out of AME issues. I am having that as well but nothing makes editing a project more difficult and frustrating than crappy playback!
Is anyone else having the choppy video and audio cutting in and out intermittently problems?
BTW- here's another big thread on the New Mac pro/ PP CC issue: RENDER PROBLEM - AME and Premiere Pro CC causing random horizontal lines on H.264 Renders
