    Rearrange Clips Easily?

    film man 24 Community Member

Just upgraded from premiere elements 10. Elements would allow you click on a clip and then drag it to another location in the timeline. CS5 you have to hold the Ctrl key every time you want to do this, I've found. I rearrange clips a lot so my question- Is there any way to change the default action of the left click to make it so you don't have to hold the Ctrl button? Elements seems a lot more intuitive in doing this. Just learning this new powerful software =)

          Click-CTRL - Drag is to"Insert"

Click- Drag should do as you wish.

Okay thank you. When I select a clip that was already in the timeline to move it in-between two other clips it erases the footage that was already there. In elements when I would do this it would scoot, almost just like "ripple", the footage to the right without deleting footage that was originally there. I can only achieve similar results by using the Ctrl key. But, yes shooternz,  I can drag as I would like as long as I drag the video to a track were it is clear.
