Hal P Anderson Jun 21, 2014 4:53 PM (in response to Sebastiaan Kop)That is the way that raw files work for all third-party raw convertors. Most of the camera settings are discarded. You get to keep white balance.
On a positive note, raw files will support a lot of post-processing without breaking down like a jpeg image would do.
If this is a problem for you, you can use Nikon's editor, or you can shoot in jpeg.

Does somebody have a solution?
My solution: leave camera settings alone, except for focus and basic exposure etc., then do all post-processing in Lightroom.
As Hal said, Lightroom does not attempt to emulate your camera. If you're editing raws in Lightroom, you're "starting over".
Some raw converters go further than others when it comes to emulating your camera. For example, some will emulate it exactly because they use Nikon's SDK (Nikon's raw conversion software libraries), and some will not do anything at all.
Lightroom sits in between those 2 extremes:
* It does NOT use Nikon's raw conversion software libraries, it uses proprietary Adobe raw conversion software (ACR) - and therefore can not match all camera settings. It's governed by Adobe Lightroom settings instead.
* It respects white balance and one other thing I always forget.
* It offers camera emulation profiles for most popular camera models.
So, if you want black and white, then choose a black and white preset when you import or convert raw to black and white after importing...
If you want color like Nikon's factory defaults you can choose a compatible camera profile (bottom section in develop module).
etc., etc., etc...
Rob
