JSS1138 Jun 23, 2014 7:03 AM (in response to JeanJensen)Forgot about that one, too. That's no good either.
Use any 720p/60 preset that uses Square Pixels (PAR = 1.0) You see this info in the Preset Description to the right.

JeanJensen Jun 24, 2014 12:16 AM (in response to JSS1138)Well, that seems to work now. BUT, when I save my new movie, it is in a extremely poor resolution

8. Re: Simply getting started
JSS1138 Jun 24, 2014 7:00 PM (in response to JeanJensen)There could be a LOT of reasons for that, most of them falling under the heading of operator error. So let's check that.
What are the export settings?

10. Re: Simply getting started
JSS1138 Jun 25, 2014 12:31 PM (in response to JeanJensen)Well, you're taking HD material and exporting it to SD. So there will be a loss of resolution.
You're also exporting progressive material as interlaced. That will cut down the already reduce resolution to 1/2.

12. Re: Simply getting started
shooternz Jun 25, 2014 3:11 PM (in response to JeanJensen)One exports the Sequence based on what the "movie is to be used for.
So
Sequence matches source footage eg 1080 (16:9) then you choose a export preset ( which you can adjust) for purpose eg Youtube.
Generally if you edit HD 1080 you will be exporting a 1080 HD movie (such as H.264 Youtube preset.)
A small file for email or a website or preview will still be16:9 but a different compression such as wmv, quicktime, h.264 low data rate,

JeanJensen Jun 26, 2014 1:01 AM (in response to shooternz)Thanks for your reply...
When I loaded the clip into my sequence, PPCC asked if I wanted to change the settings so it matched the clip - I did so. When I saved my finished movie, I chose H.264 and YouTube 1080p 29.97.
Here you can see the outcome...

Steven L. Gotz Jun 30, 2014 7:02 AM (in response to JeanJensen)If you are complaining about the fuzziness in the areas where there is less contract or definition, there is a bug in the H.264 output in CC 2014.

SAFEHARBOR11 Jun 30, 2014 7:27 AM (in response to Steven L. Gotz)Hi Jean,
Question - did you shoot 120fps for the purpose of later getting smooth slow motion? If so, then you might want to edit at 30p - that is a typical delivery frame rate would allow for very smooth slow-mo at speeds of 25% or 50% for instance.
Also, what would you like to ultimately deliver - 720p or 1080p? If 1080p is preferred, the 720p should upscale pretty well, in which case you could use a 1080p30 sequence, else just go with the 720p30 sequence and downscale the 1080 footage. Might depend on what you have more of - if the bulk of the clips are 1080 then perhaps bump up the 720 clips, your decision.
If you have no interest in getting slow-mo from your GoPro footage, then in the future you may want to just shoot at 30p or 60p, probably no point in going with the super-high frame rate option.
Thanks

JeanJensen Jun 30, 2014 11:27 PM (in response to SAFEHARBOR11)Thanks for your reply, Steven & Safeharbor,
Earlier I used AVS4YOU for editing my films, but the picture quality has never been 100%.
I've always shot with 720p/120fps, and set the speed of all the clips down to 60% for the looks realistic (it's films with RC cars). In AVS4YOU is this slow motion reproduced perfectly, but - the quality is not 100%.
Now I'd like to try this Premiere Pro CC, to see if I can get an even better result. While I was testing, I use video clips recorded with 1080p/30fps from my GoPro (see results above).
Which settings are best for my clips? I still want the result to be super smooth, and obviously in a better quality than before.
Is it at all possible to make super smooth slow motion (60%) with 30fps in PPCC?
Thanks in advance.
