3. Re: camera raw does not update to 8.5 with CC 2014 and windows 7
deejjjaaaa Jun 19, 2014 1:51 PM (in response to mmntjrrt)try even more brutal force like directly replacing existing "Camera Raw.8bi" with the content of \payloads\AdobeCameraRaw8.0All-x64-050614143245\Assets1_1.zip (from direct download archive) for x64 (rename it, backup old .8bi first) .. the same for x32 from \payloads\AdobeCameraRaw8.0All-050614141453
PS: but first research your system - where do you have Camera Raw.8bi files (dates/sizes)

mmntjrrt Jun 19, 2014 2:25 PM (in response to deejjjaaaa)Thank you, it worked!!
In Photoshop Community, EEGI answering Tee Wayne (Can't get latest version of Camera Raw...) is using the same brutal force than you!!!
My Camera Raw is finally updated to version 8.5.

6. Re: camera raw does not update to 8.5 with CC 2014 and windows 7
Ashutosh.Nigam Jun 21, 2014 2:39 AM (in response to mmntjrrt)Hi All,
Please provide a screenshot from Ps->Help->Update->Preferences. Please ensure Camera Raw entries are present here.
This ensure your updates application.
If it is not present then you need to re-install PS CC 2014 It would be listed in Previous Version section. (http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-apps.html)
Regards,
Ashutosh

7. Re: camera raw does not update to 8.5 with CC 2014 and windows 7
mmntjrrt Jun 20, 2014 6:20 AM (in response to Ashutosh.Nigam)The problem was resolved by replacing the two “Camera Raw.8bi” files.
Attached is the screenshot of Update-Preferences, Camera Raw is present.
Thank you for the follow-up.

8. Re: camera raw does not update to 8.5 with CC 2014 and windows 7
KateMann Jun 20, 2014 9:25 AM (in response to mmntjrrt)I upgraded to PsCC 2014 and Lr5 CC yesterday. Lr5.5 installed correctly but PsCC 2014 still is using ACR 8.0. Help, Update yields a dialogue for updating to 8.5. I ran it and then checked the version (help, about plugin, ACR) Still ACR 8.0
Help does not yield ps, help, update, preferences. I did check Edit Preferences Camera Raw which resulted in a return of Camera Raw 8.0.
I assume that PsCC 2014 is still running 8.0 despite the update.
Fix suggestion?

9. Re: camera raw does not update to 8.5 with CC 2014 and windows 7
deejjjaaaa Jun 20, 2014 10:23 AM (in response to Ashutosh.Nigam)> then you need to uninstall and re-install
that's why we like tech support...

10. Re: camera raw does not update to 8.5 with CC 2014 and windows 7
John Rowell Jun 20, 2014 11:50 AM (in response to Ashutosh.Nigam)So what does Adobe recommend we do if the Application Manager does show Photoshop Camera Raw 8 as in the screenshot someone posted but ACR 8.0 is still the current loaded version?

11. Re: camera raw does not update to 8.5 with CC 2014 and windows 7
KateMann Jun 23, 2014 5:44 AM (in response to deejjjaaaa)Re-installing has not worked, repeatedly. Running the 8.5 setup.exe doesn't work. My PsCC 2014 remains stubbornly set at ACR 8.0. Lr5 is fine, at 8.5. There are numerous questions about this - clearly quite a few people are in this bind. I am reluctant to handbomb the thing as outlined above, fearing that the next ACR upgrade will not work (someone somewhere was mentioning this ...)
Does Adobe have a solution yet? It has been quite a few days.

12. Re: camera raw does not update to 8.5 with CC 2014 and windows 7
John Rowell Jun 23, 2014 6:56 AM (in response to KateMann)Having gotten no response from Adobe, I started looking through my directory files and found that CS6 64 bit had a "Camera Raw.8bi" dated in June 2014, but CC 64 bit had one dated April 2013. Seems I had missed several updates since I run in 64 bit mode. I just copied the newer one in CS6 (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS6\File Formats\Camera Raw.8bi) to CC (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC\File Formats\Camera Raw.8bi.
Make sure to rename or move the old version before copying the new one. You can then at least revert back to the old one if you have a problem. Obviously, this also means you have to have CS6 loaded on your computer.

13. Re: camera raw does not update to 8.5 with CC 2014 and windows 7
KateMann Jun 23, 2014 7:21 AM (in response to John Rowell)I'm going to have to do this I guess John. I can't say I'm thrilled about it - but the photos are piling up waiting for me to figure it out and I'm sick of listening to them b**ch.
heh

14. Re: camera raw does not update to 8.5 with CC 2014 and windows 7
John Rowell Jun 23, 2014 8:04 AM (in response to KateMann)I hope it works as easily for you as it did for me. It's a 30 second fix once your find the right folders. Of course if you don't have CS6, or the camera raw.8bi in that folder also has an old date, guess you'd have to try to download camera raw directly and then find the file in the download.

15. Re: camera raw does not update to 8.5 with CC 2014 and windows 7
KateMann Jun 23, 2014 8:45 AM (in response to John Rowell)John, is the camera raw file for Lr5 the same as it should be for PsCC 2014, do you know?

16. Re: camera raw does not update to 8.5 with CC 2014 and windows 7
John Rowell Jun 23, 2014 9:04 AM (in response to KateMann)Sorry, I don't know for sure. However, since it is in the "Common Files" and all my problems went away, I'm guessing that the answer is likely to be "yes". How's that for waffling?

17. Re: camera raw does not update to 8.5 with CC 2014 and windows 7
CBR 1000 Jun 23, 2014 9:20 AM (in response to mmntjrrt)I have a very similar problem. On https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1503755 I described the situation. I think it is not enough to replace the Camera Raw.8bi because you need to update also Camera Profile and Lens Profile to version 8.5.

18. Re: camera raw does not update to 8.5 with CC 2014 and windows 7
ssprengel Jun 23, 2014 9:23 AM (in response to KateMann)Lightroom 5.5 has the Camera Raw 8.5 engine built in so does not use the PS Camera Raw plug-in file; however, if your PS/ACR plug-in is an older version, then when you do an Edit In, LR will complain that it needs upgraded, so that the versions are in sync.
You can do a Help / About LR in LR to see what version of PS plug-in it is compatible with.

19. Re: camera raw does not update to 8.5 with CC 2014 and windows 7
ssprengel Jun 23, 2014 9:32 AM (in response to CBR 1000)The lens and camera profiles go to a common place, so if your 32-bit install worked, then they are already updated.
If you feel you need to install them, anyway, then you can always install the DNG Converter 8.5 which also installs all the lens and camera profiles to the same shared location.

20. Re: camera raw does not update to 8.5 with CC 2014 and windows 7
KateMann Jun 23, 2014 7:11 PM (in response to ssprengel)Thanks ssprengel.
I think I'm going to wait until Adobe fixes their problem. I really don't feel like hand installing software.
