1. Re: Can Adobe Line sketches be synced to Illustrator as vectors?
davidmacy Jun 26, 2014 11:11 AM (in response to jamie.dunmore)Not so far. The app exports .png for now. But as you can tell from my answer, we'r woking on heading in that direction. Can you give any more thoughts on what you would like to be able to do with your drawings in Illustrator?

jamie.dunmore Jun 27, 2014 1:10 AM (in response to davidmacy)Thanks.
I am creating a cartoon and would like to be able to share hand-drawn vectors from my iPad to my desktop as I would rather use a powerful desktop app to create backgrounds and other assets for animation rather than an iPad app.
As it stands though, I am happy to use Adobe Ideas for that - its vector/sync to Illustrator is brilliant for me.

davidmacy Jun 27, 2014 8:44 AM (in response to jamie.dunmore)Thanks Jamie. Here's what I'm after - when you bring the vectors into Illustrator, do you simple want to scale them and add additional elements that you can only do in Illustrator, or do you manipulate the curve points at all (maybe cleaning up or changing shapes)?

4. Re: Can Adobe Line sketches be synced to Illustrator as vectors?
jamie.dunmore Jun 30, 2014 12:36 AM (in response to davidmacy)Well as it stands, I'm not going to use Line because it doesn't support output to vectors. Instead, I'm going to be using Adobe Ideas. I will use Illustrator in addition to Ideas for a number of reasons. Firstly, Ideas only gives you about 6 or 7 layers to work on in any one sketch and secondly, working on a larger screen is much quicker and more productive for creating backgrounds with gradient fills, overlay effects etc.

5. Re: Can Adobe Line sketches be synced to Illustrator as vectors?
roscografik Jul 21, 2014 5:56 AM (in response to jamie.dunmore)I already can't understand why adobe Ideas exports forms and not strokes in illustrator. So with line I can't understand at all why it si not possible to export in illustrator in a vector format. This bitmap export option has no interest for me. And as line does not export as a vector app I can't understand the interest of two diffrent app (line & sketch) there are only few differences in the brushes and in the ergonomic and less functionnalities in sketch (no brush size or transparency option). Adobe ideas was already a great app (with layers, resize option, brush size, transparency and simple to use), why don't you have implemented your ruler in ideas and created a single second bitmap app with sketch ?
I work for 15 years with illustrator and from the beginning with Ideas and all this is really a big mystery for me ???

6. Re: Can Adobe Line sketches be synced to Illustrator as vectors?
Idiagram Nov 11, 2014 6:04 AM (in response to roscografik)I just got a new iPad and loaded Adobe Draw and Adobe Line - beautiful, thoughtfully designed apps. Except that they're totally useless as they don't save Illustrator-editable vector artwork - as you would absolutely expect they would. I'm baffled why Adobe would fatally cripple such potentially useful apps.

7. Re: Can Adobe Line sketches be synced to Illustrator as vectors?
davidmacy Nov 11, 2014 9:52 AM (in response to Idiagram)The latest version of Adobe Illustrator Line can indeed send vectors over to Illustrator (also requires latex version of Illustrator CC on the desktop).
Here's how it works:
1. With the drawing open, tap the Share button and tap Send to Illustrator.
2. The drawing will open as a new document in Illustrator. At first, you will see a .png rendition of the drawing. This rendition will look just like the drawing on the iPad.
3. Select the image, then from the Object menu, choose Sketch and Line Art > Expand to Paths. Voila, you will now have the original paths you drew on the iPad. Some appearance may change since Illustrator doesn't know how to render the pencil and marker strokes that you can create in Line.
