1. Re: How can I change the file version for scanned PDFs to 1.4 when using the "PDF from Scanner" feature from Acrobat XI? By default it's always saved as 1.5.
Test Screen Name Jun 30, 2014 5:35 AM (in response to danimoser)Unlikely to be a setting. Probably, Acrobat uses more sophisticated compression not in 1.4. Distiller not involved. You can save as optimized PDF from Acrobat 5.

danimoser Jun 30, 2014 7:04 AM (in response to Test Screen Name)Thanks for the quick reply.
Saving each individual PDF out of a batch of dozens of documents manually as v1.4 is not an option unfortunately.

Test Screen Name Jun 30, 2014 7:14 AM (in response to danimoser)There are ways to automate PDF optimizer using Actions.
Arguably, the problem arises from trying to mix new software (well, not so old, not sure why you'd migrate to Acrobat X when it's already obsolete), with very old software indeed. It's 11 years since PDF 1.6 was published. I realise this may not help, but it may explain why there isn't a simple option for you.

danimoser Jun 30, 2014 8:11 AM (in response to Test Screen Name)We use in our software an open-source pdf library that only supports pdf versions up to 1.4. I know it is old, but it's not that simple to exchange it.
But I just had a look into the Actions as you suggested. This way I get it to work. It costs one additional click, so that's acceptable.
Thanks for the support.
