says close safari

i am trying to download flash player but it says to close safari windows first. after i close them it still says there are open safari windows and it won't download. please help. what do i do? i have tried multiple times to download it and it says please close safari every time even when i have no safari windows open. help.

It's not enough to close the Safari window; you need to close Safari itself.

If you don't know how, restart your computer, then run the downloaded installer before doing anything else.
