creative cloud photoshop keeps crashing at start up any ideas why?

Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator and Premiere crashes for me to, everytime I try to launch. Dreamweaver works though.

It's been working well for over a month now but after I had to re-install Win7 pro 64, Photoshop won't start.

I installed the latest display driver from AMD but no luck.

If ATI's latest drivers don't solve a crash in ATI's drivers - then you need to contact ATI so they can get more information to solve the crashing bug in their drivers.

SOLUTION:

Navigate to

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014

Locate sniffer.exe and rename it ~sniffer.exe

This solution was offered by Adobe chat support, after a very long and fruitless exchange. Apparently, the support tech finally asked around, and someone else in the room gave him the correct answer.

Disabling sniffer just means that you are not testing the driver for problems, but the driver still has bugs.

Sniffer checks the driver for compatibility, and tests for known crashes so that Photoshop won't crash.

But in this case your driver was still crashing.

The only real solution is to update the driver to a version that doesn't contain crashing bugs.

And then it crashes PS CC.

Of which...there isn't one.

Remember: This only happens with PS CC. So where does the problem lie? With Adobe or with AMD? As far as AMD is concerned, it's an Adobe problem. They are the only known problem.

Anyway, PS CC seems to be running stable now that sniffer.exe isn't crashing it.

The problem lies in the driver code.

AMD knows about the problems in older drivers, and fixed them (ages ago, but some people failed to update).  But they don't know about problems in the current drivers, and need more information to see if they might have missed something.

Sniffer is just checking for problems, it is not directly the cause of the problem.

For most other users, updating their video card drivers has solved the crashes.
