Problem styling images

I would like to style some of my images (adding margins, etc.).

Styling in RH11 works fine for text, but when I select the image, the formats drop-down where I select a style becomes grayed out.

Given that you are allowed to apply a class to the <img> tag, this seems arbitrary.

Short of manually editing the HTML, how can I style an image in RH11?

Don't select the image. Just click the line where the image is / will be and apply the style to that line.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply Peter. Problem is I need separate styling for the icon that appear WITHIN a styled paragraph. So That's why I'd like to be able to select the icon and apply the selector to the <img scr="xxx" class="this icon">.

Seems odd that Adobe goes out of its way to prevent this. Is it me?

I'm still wondering why RH11 would prevent you from applying a style to an <img>.

Is the only solution to edit the HTML manually? What a pain...

Hmm. I thought that was the way it worked when I last used image styling but I just tested and you can select the image only and apply an image style. My apologies for misinforming you.

Looking a bit more...

First you apply the image style by selecting the image and then going to the Style pod and double clicking the Image style to be applied.

Second, note the styles only allow you to wrap text to the left or right. You cannot apply the style to an image that is mid sentence.

Thanks for your thoughts Peter.

This video should demonstrate the problem I am having:

Seems as though Adobe is going out of its way to prevent me from applying a style to an <img>.

You are trying to apply the style from the style dropdown. As I said, you need to apply it from the Style Pod. Go to View > Pods > Styles and Formatting. Locate the image style you want there. With the image selected double click the image style in the Styles and Formatting pod.

Thanks Peter. Wow, that's really something. Applying a style to an <img> works in the style pod, but not in the style drop-down. I wonder what the logic was behind that...

Also, have you observed that your technique for selecting the image then double-clicking on the selector in the style pod works if you set the Filter to show image styles -- but not if you remove filtering and show all styles?

Yikes!

It's not so much logic as history. That dropdown has been there forever and has been paragraph and character styles only. Think of it as a quick way to apply those styles.

The fact that image styles don't show if you remove filtering is a bug. Please follow this link.
