1. Re: Stream type is invalid for one PC not other
Stan Jones Jul 11, 2014 12:07 PM (in response to Cavemandude)I'd have to go with reinstall Encore. But no guarantee that would help.
I'd check the specific version of each program. On PC, Encore should be PC 6.0.2.
Just to add to this. I took the MPEG-2 file from that PC and was able to load it into Encore on one of my other PC's so it looks like an Encore problem specific to that one PC only. Reinstall Encore?
You moved the m2v and the xmpses, right? If, not it might still indicate a Premiere/AME issue.
Did you try an m2v and xmpses from another machine in this one? That would help to focus it on Encore on this machine.

2. Re: Stream type is invalid for one PC not other
Cavemandude Jul 11, 2014 1:25 PM (in response to Stan Jones)Both PC's have the same version of Premiere CS6 and Encore CS6, latest version available Encore 6.0.2, Premiere 6.05.
Did it 2 ways, moved the m2v, the xmp & xmpses files to the other PC then only the m2v file and both ways worked. When I moved just the m2v file to its own folder it loaded into Encore on the problem PC.
Any old projects on the problem PC that I have already exported MPEG-2 files for DVD's will load into Encore correctly with chapter points. The last DVD (2 DVD's with chapter points from a Premiere project) I completed using this PC was 6-23-14 and had no issues loading the files into Encore.
I haven't tried a new MPEG-2 export from Premiere on the other PC to load into Encore on the problem PC yet.

3. Re: Stream type is invalid for one PC not other
Stan Jones Jul 11, 2014 1:39 PM (in response to Cavemandude)No answer here.
I would look at the problem file with Gspot and Mediainfo just to see what they have to say. But I just can't image what would create this scenario, other than a codec/corrupt file on the problem machine.

4. Re: Stream type is invalid for one PC not other
Cavemandude Jul 11, 2014 1:52 PM (in response to Stan Jones)There doesn't seem to a problem with the m2v file since it loads into Encore on both PC's. It's only when I have the 2 xmp files in the same folder does the problem show up but on only 1 of the 2 PC's.
How do you properly uninstall/install just Encore since it is integrated with Premiere?

5. Re: Stream type is invalid for one PC not other
Cavemandude Jul 11, 2014 2:20 PM (in response to Cavemandude)And it's not just one file from one project. Any project I load into Premiere (on this specific PC) and then export an MPEG-2 file to use in Encore will cause this problem just on the one PC. This includes projects that I've already completed and successfully made DVD's in Encore with this PC. If I now try to again in Premiere to export an MPEG-2 file to use in Encore it worn't work if the xmp files are in the same folder. I can load the old Encore project into Encore that has the old MPEG-2 file and xmp files without issue.

6. Re: Stream type is invalid for one PC not other
Stan Jones Jul 11, 2014 2:22 PM (in response to Cavemandude)Many of Encore's issues are related to the information carried in the xmpses file. When only the m2v is present, Encore (I think the sonic core) examines the m2v and builds its own info. That's why removing the xmpses has always been a helpful workaround. Many a time, I've punted to complete a project and manually recreated chapters in Encore.
I do believe you have an option (check boxes) to remove only Encore. I think you will see them once you have started the uninstall. but I am not sure.
I don't trust any Adobe uninstalls without the cleaner. So I'd probably bite the bullet and uninstall it all.
Make sure you have a backup of your whole system.
Don't forget to deactivate before uninstalling. (You're a CS6 regular license, not cloud subscription, right?)

7. Re: Stream type is invalid for one PC not other
Stan Jones Jul 11, 2014 2:24 PM (in response to Cavemandude)Even though I'd bet the problem is Encore, going this drastic, I'd do Premiere too. We really can't know.
There's always a chance it is an OS update issue that has messed something up on this one machine. Uninstalling/reinstalling all of Adobe may not fix it.

8. Re: Stream type is invalid for one PC not other
Cavemandude Jul 11, 2014 2:56 PM (in response to Stan Jones)I have 2 CC subscriptions for 4 PC's which means I can still do the Premiere project and export on this problem PC but I'll need to do any Encore work on one of the other 3. I still need to use Premiere CS6 and Encore for DVD projects with chapter points since Premiere CC/CC2014 can no longer export frame-accurate chapter points like CS6 can.

9. Re: Stream type is invalid for one PC not other
Stan Jones Jul 11, 2014 3:05 PM (in response to Cavemandude)That makes the uninstall/reinstall less painful.
I forgot about the no frame accurate export. Have not tested since I have access to CC.

10. Re: Stream type is invalid for one PC not other
Cavemandude Jul 12, 2014 10:29 AM (in response to Stan Jones)What is the minimum time length allowed between chapter points for Encore to accept in an MPEG-2 file since Premiere will let you add a chapter point at any length and export it?

11. Re: Stream type is invalid for one PC not other
Stan Jones Jul 12, 2014 10:47 AM (in response to Cavemandude)Encore help file: NTSC 15 frames; PAL 12. So basically, half a second.
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/encore/cs/using/WSbaf9cd7d26a2eabfe807401038582db29-7ee3a.html
I think that if your imported chapter points as noncompliant, Encore moves them and give you the "chapter or trims adjusted" warning.
Can you provide a link with information regarding the "CC/CC2014 can no longer export frame-accurate chapter points like CS6 can"? I recall this, but have no link.

12. Re: Stream type is invalid for one PC not other
Cavemandude Jul 12, 2014 12:29 PM (in response to Stan Jones)So I transferred the entire Premiere project over to one of my other PC's loaded it and exported the MPEG-2 file with the same export settings since it was saved with the project. This MPEG-2 file & xmp's loaded into Encore no problem with all the chapter points so I then transferred that MPEG-2 folder with the xmp files and loaded it into Encore on the problem PC and it also loaded fine.
I did try and load the MPEG-2 file and xmp's exported by the problem PC into Encore on the other PC and it wouldn't load. So I guess what is happening is that Premiere on the problem PC is exporting a bad combo of MPEG-2 and xmp files.

13. Re: Stream type is invalid for one PC not other
Stan Jones Jul 12, 2014 12:49 PM (in response to Cavemandude)Re marker not frame accurate. Have you tested with CC 2014?
I felt stupid when I saw "June 23" in that thread and I was fairly active - felt a little better when I realized it was 2013! Ha!
Now that I have access to CC, I'll have to test it and 2014.

14. Re: Stream type is invalid for one PC not other
Stan Jones Jul 12, 2014 12:51 PM (in response to Cavemandude)I did try and load the MPEG-2 file and xmp's exported by the problem PC into Encore on the other PC and it wouldn't load. So I guess what is happening is that Premiere on the problem PC is exporting a bad combo of MPEG-2 and xmp files.
And that is a Premiere CS6 install, correct? Any CC installed on that PC?
Thanks for reporting your results.

15. Re: Stream type is invalid for one PC not other
Cavemandude Jul 12, 2014 12:55 PM (in response to Stan Jones)I tested CC 2014 and it was no better than CC with frame-accurate chapter points.

16. Re: Stream type is invalid for one PC not other
Cavemandude Jul 12, 2014 5:43 PM (in response to Cavemandude)Did the most basic uninstall/reinstall of Premiere/Encore CS6 and it fixed the problem. No cleaner used.

18. Re: Stream type is invalid for one PC not other
Cavemandude Jul 12, 2014 6:35 PM (in response to Stan Jones)Just to add, Premiere CS6, CC and CC 2014 are installed on all 4 PC's.
