1. Re: Why is Encore insisting that my project is too big?
Stan Jones Jul 12, 2014 8:29 PM (in response to mentalcase129)Not enough info, but let's see... Encore CS6? Did Encore show the original file as "do not transcode"? Are you saying that you copied over the file outside Encore?
Never revise a file using the same name. Use replace asset with a new name,

mentalcase129 Jul 12, 2014 9:04 PM (in response to Stan Jones)Yes it was showing it as Do Not Transcode. But in previous projects I've left it at that and liked the results. It's just a matter of making sure the file is small enough to begin with. It's an M2V file btw. And yes, I was copying over the original outside file. Why is that not okay?
What other info would you need to advise on this?

3. Re: Why is Encore insisting that my project is too big?
Stan Jones Jul 13, 2014 7:34 AM (in response to mentalcase129)Encore is very fussy about tracking assets. When you make a change outside Encore, you can corrupt the project. That often requires starting over.
I would first:
Close Encore. Copy the new file (including the m2v, audio, xmpses, and xmp files), and then rename the copies to a new filename. I think renaming all of them will work.
Open the project in Encore. Select the m2v asset. Right click and pick "replace asset." Navigate to the renamed, new file. Repeat for the audio asset.
If that doesn't work, clear the caches.
These may not work, but they might.

6. Re: Why is Encore insisting that my project is too big?
mentalcase129 Jul 13, 2014 11:46 AM (in response to Stan Jones)Replacing the asset worked but it led to some other bugs. The video went kinda wonky on me for some reason. But by doing that the file size shown in the build window properly reset and was small enough for the disk. So I ultimately had to start a new project and reassemble the whole thing but replacing the asset at least showed me that I had reencoded the video properly and it was just a glitch on Encore's end. So it still helped a lot and now I know for future. Thanks again.
