Not downloading and starting or even being recognised

When i download flash player everything is normal, i install it and its tells me the download is complete. However, when i go to play a game which i need flashplayer to use the game, it comes up with the same prompt to download flashplayer, like i hadn't downloaded it. Upon looking at my downloads, flashplayer is no longer in my downloads and so it is not working. Please help!
