1. Re: TOC - removing one dot after an entry (before the dot leader)
Ellie52 Jul 13, 2014 4:02 PM (in response to Ellie52)P.S. I can delete the dot manually, but every time I update the TOC, it comes back. I need the TOC to update without this issue.

Obi-wan Kenobi Jul 14, 2014 2:07 AM (in response to Ellie52)Hi,
In the para style used in the TOC, you can simply insert a grep style based on a char style with -200 approach and no color and the following grep code \.(?=\t).
So you do "disappear" the dot! Aha! It's surely magical!

Ellie52 Jul 14, 2014 7:22 AM (in response to Obi-wan Kenobi)Thank you so much!
I am very new to indesign. Any chance you could walk me through adding a
GREP style? Or at least, point me to a resource where I can learn about
that?
Thanks!

Ellie52 Jul 15, 2014 8:44 AM (in response to Obi-wan Kenobi)Obi-wan Kenobi, could you please help me with another issue??
Still battling with my figure captions TOC. I need a line break in the TOC
entry, but not in the figure caption. Is there something I can do to make
that work?

8. Re: TOC - removing one dot after an entry (before the dot leader)
Ellie52 Jul 15, 2014 9:20 AM (in response to Obi-wan Kenobi)I knew you would have an idea. That's why I ask you
Here's a screenshot of the TOC as I want it to look:
sorry that it's not in English, but you get the point, right? The first work on the left is "Figure."
I added a forced line break in Figure 3 to make it go onto the next line. That wasn't a good thing to do though, because the break gets overridden when I update the TOC. If I add the line break in the actual Figure 3 caption on page 6, the TOC picks that up. The problem is that I don't want a line break in the actual caption on page 6.
Here's the TOC as it updates:
The figure 3 line takes up too much space and there is no space for the tab leader. And I don't really want to change the tracking in that caption, though I could do that if theres no other way.
Please help

Obi-wan Kenobi Jul 15, 2014 9:43 AM (in response to Obi-wan Kenobi)… and you can improve, "gently", the line break with a grep style, if you need!

12. Re: TOC - removing one dot after an entry (before the dot leader)
Joel Cherney Jul 15, 2014 9:59 AM (in response to Obi-wan Kenobi)Yeah, exactly, Obi-Wan. You're showing the screenshot of right-margin indent and negative last-line indent that I was too lazy to take in the thread at which SRigel pointed. If «dernière ligne» isn't "last line indent" I'll eat my hat.
