I have set up my books with about 20 different documents. After the front matter, I want the rest of the documents to be numbered sequentially: Chapter Number-Page Number. So chapter 1 pages would be 1-1 - 1-10. And so on.
The numbers are correct in the footer of each page, but I cannot get them to appear correctly in the book panel. It it still hanging onto some old section prefixes I had from a previous version and I cannot get it to behave correctly in the book panel. Sometimes I can't get either the section prefix or the chapter number to appear as part of the numbering in the book panel. I think my previous workaround involved skipping the chapter numbers as part of the page numbering, and manually adding a section prefix to each document in the book, then checking "Include Prefix when numbering pages." The problem is that if I reorder the documents in the book, the section prefixes don't automatically update, and so things get numbered incorrectly.
I tired creating a new book and inserting the documents into the new book, but they behaved the same way.
Any ideas on how to make this work? I am using InDesign CC 2014.
