40. Re: Premiere Pro CC Mute / Solo bug
Keith Moreau Aug 31, 2013 8:42 PM (in response to shanewalsh)Adobe Staff: Any Updates on the progress on this bug? I wasted several hours today dealing with encodes that had tracks muted. I'm now going to spend more time seeing if Aaron Sherry's workaround works. Please acknowledge, we've already posted multiple bug reports. If a bug can be worked around, it can be reproduced and fixed by your engineering team. This is a MAJOR BUG that I'm sure is affecting many of your loyal customers that bought into CC. Thanks much for any information.

Keith Moreau Sep 1, 2013 9:50 AM (in response to Keith Moreau)Update: After using the 'workaround' by creating a new track, copying and pasting the 'problematic' track to the new track and deleting the problem track, I have not experienced the muting problem when queuing an export from Premiere Pro CC to Adobe Media Encoder CC. I can't say if this problem only happens with pre CC projects converted to CC projects or not though to try to fix the problem I created a new project and imported the old CC project into it but still had problems. I also believe I have seen the problem with projects originally created in CC but I can't say for sure at this point.
But I have to say this workaround is effective. Now Adobe, I request that you now have this info, as well as how to workaournd the problem, please fix it in the next update of Premiere Pro / Dynamic Link Server / Adobe Media Encoder. It is obvious it is a bug that can probably pretty easily be fixed. I used to be a software developer so I know what I'm talking about.
I will be updating this with the adobe bug submission as well.

Keith Moreau Sep 1, 2013 9:55 AM (in response to Keith Moreau)I just submitted the bug report. I believe I can supply Adobe with a problem sequence and media so they can reproduce the problem and fix this bug if they somehow don't know how to repro it.

bucksommerkamp Sep 17, 2013 5:33 PM (in response to Keith Moreau)Add me to the list of people who have been severely bitten by this bug. Exported clips through AME only to find that a previously-muted track had "re-muted" itself and despite turning mute "off" and re-saving the file, when opening it again, the track magically remutes itself and then won't export audio.
We did the workaround of creating new audio tracks and pasting the contents, but seriously...this is a MAJOR bug and needs fixing, fast!
Thanks,
Buck

metice Oct 18, 2013 1:26 AM (in response to bucksommerkamp)I'm also suffering from this problem with tracks being muted. It's a real time waster and I'm surprised Adobe haven't fixed this. Would be nice if they updated us on this issue as it's been outstanding for quite some time.

Atkinsgj Oct 21, 2013 9:07 AM (in response to KGCW)Exact same issue here. I'm opening a project and finding that random tracks which had been set to Mute/Solo no longer have these properties retained, or they have been reassigned to other tracks...which is just...fantastic. I'm so happy that Premiere is doing this to me, because I didn't want to use Media Encoder to export my 60 odd sequences, I wanted to sit there and click export for each one. Seriously Adobe, fix this problem already - Media Encoder is now useless and to suggest that this isn't a bug is to slap an "amateur" sticker on a product that boasts a professional workflow.

Tricklarock73 Oct 29, 2013 11:06 PM (in response to Atkinsgj)WOW ADOBE! This is ridiculous!!! I make skateboard videos and have to mute the audio (A1) from the video track to make sure the landings, etc. are on the beat. I went back to check my project because the first 2 times I exported it the video, the volume was all over the place (another problem - no clear way to "select all tracks" and apply gain control as I know of)! I basically had to redo the timing/beat sync, using the mute button occasionally. I assume everytime I used it, it "saved" the mute. HOW IN THE @#$% DO I GET RID OF THE MUTES?!!
...and I also agree with keeping the SOLO issue seperate, there's already enough confusion as it is! Thank you in advance Adobe. I wonder how long it'll be before I can export...if I do to find out the mutes stayed as is I know I'm gonna spaz! BTW, I'm using AVCHD and a music track (which is fine so far...knock on wood!), nothing complicated!

Tricklarock73 Jul 23, 2014 6:10 PM (in response to Tricklarock73)...about the "select all / gain control" issue, wasn't a Pr issue, it was a noob issue! Figured that one out quick enough.

NickBoston Aug 18, 2014 11:21 AM (in response to KGCW)I'm having a nutty issue. I called support and they can't figure it out. I have a mute button that is turning on and off like it's keyframed or something. It's not keyframed that I can tell. It's really strange. It seems to be recording when I hit the mute button. Even if I close out of Premiere CC 2014 and open it again the mutes happen again.
Any ideas???
