concretenz-9RYBra Jan 13, 2011 4:01 PM (in response to concretenz-9RYBra)OK, I have fixed it I had to AGAIN create a new administrator account and I transfer everything over... phew no easy task.
Love to know what was effecting it.

2. Re: Illustrator CS5 15.0.2 crash when Save for Web and Devices (Mac)
concretenz Feb 3, 2011 11:01 AM (in response to concretenz-9RYBra)OK it has happened again. I get the spinning wheel... and can no longer use the save for web.
Any ideas? Obviously a permission issue even though I have not changed the permissions.
Please note: I am the original poster, had to reset account with Adobe's help as some mess up with Adobe account.

concretenz Feb 3, 2011 12:35 PM (in response to concretenz-9RYBra)I guess this is a too hard basket... will try again with Adobe.
I am thinking Cocktail has something to do with this issue and permissions. Not getting any issues with anything else only Adobe Illustrator.

Batel Feb 13, 2011 2:45 PM (in response to concretenz)Hello! I was actually having the same problem. But I then checked for updates today and it fixed it (for me at least). It looks like Adobe may have answered the call and fixed the issue. Check for new updates and see if it helps!

5. Re: Illustrator CS5 15.0.2 crash when Save for Web and Devices (Mac)
Wade_Zimmerman Feb 13, 2011 4:51 PM (in response to concretenz)If you use cocktail I suggest you get rid of it it can cause serious problems if you select the wrong settings, instead download ONYXwhich is free and will not harm your system or corrupt anything by deleting something you actually need.
I hit the wrong setting using cocktail and it locked me out of all of the hard drives installed or connected to my Mac it is very dangerous. And I cannot imagine a reason for a setting that would protect your hard drives from yourself to the point of not recognizing your own password.
I know it cost money and has advanced settings but having the ability to kill your system is crazy.
Also to repair your permissions use the disk utility or ONYX as the permissions can become changed when installing software or if cocktail changes it locking you out of folders etc.

concretenz Feb 13, 2011 4:59 PM (in response to Wade_Zimmerman)Hi Wade, too funny... I was just thinking to myself that I should post an update that all is ok and that I strongly believe either Cocktail or ONYX was the issue.... (Cocktail more so)... and your post arrives. Nice.
OK for all, I have done a clean install, of everything, OS X to Adobe, and Adobe is running .... SWEET!... in fact sweeter an more responsive than ever.
Also Adobe support is truly amazing now! even better than a Doctor, they phoned me to see if all was ok. NICE.

8. Re: Illustrator CS5 15.0.2 crash when Save for Web and Devices (Mac)
concretenz Apr 27, 2011 3:37 AM (in response to concretenz)RESOLVED!!!! after working with Adobe who tried (though may have discovered this if the reports I sent were read?). I took a little time to read the 'Open Files and Ports' in the Activity Monitor after the freeze... to find one line the very last line:
/Users/myname/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop CS5 Setting/Patterns.psp
I deleted this... and presto all great again.
It was because I had imported some patterns I liked... obviously I wont do that again as 1 or some were corrupted?
Sorted now.

DawneMichelle Jul 31, 2011 3:09 PM (in response to concretenz)Oh my goodness, I'm having the exact same problem, and found the exact same script or whatever in my Activity Monitor. Can you please tell me how you deleted it? I tried the eternally optimistic way - highlighting the text and hitting 'delete' - but of course that didn't work. How'd you do it?
Thanks so much!!

10. Re: Illustrator CS5 15.0.2 crash when Save for Web and Devices (Mac)
concretenz Jul 31, 2011 3:14 PM (in response to DawneMichelle)got to:
/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop CS5 Setting/
and delete the Patterns.psp
this file is created from your Patterns that you have imprted or created, it will go to the default Patterns once deleted. then keep an eye on what patterns you import from now on.
I HAVE NOT HAD AN ISSUE SINCE.!

12. Re: Illustrator CS5 15.0.2 crash when Save for Web and Devices (Mac)
DawneMichelle Aug 2, 2011 10:43 AM (in response to concretenz)Thank you so much for responding to me!! This has been a real pain in the arse, to say the least, and I really appreciate your help. I'm a student, and have only been using the Adobe programs for just under two years, and I've never encountered anything quite like this. Not to mention the fact that I'm really bummed about losing all the gorgeous patterns I've collected.
I'd like to ask you one more question: I found the line of code in my activity monitor, but it won't let me delete it from there. Where can I go to delete the "/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop CS5 Setting/" code? Can I find the "deletable code" by using the Finder, or is there a way to delete it using the activity monitor?
Thanks again!!

DawneMichelle Aug 2, 2011 10:50 AM (in response to concretenz)Never mind - I found it!!
Once again, thanks a million for your help. It just kills me to have to delete those patterns. I'd found some really, really gorgeous ones. In fact, I just downloaded some a couple of days ago. Siiiiigh. If only you only had a "corrupt pattern file detection tool" that I could borrow....
Have a great day!!

Dollique Nov 4, 2012 5:36 AM (in response to concretenz)Hello
I have the exact same Issue, but I'm using CS6 and Windows 8... Can someone tell me where the patterns are stored here?... I recently added a pattern in Illustrator and I don't know much about pattern so I maybe didn't do it correctly and that's causing that issue...
Thx for your help!

jimhere Jan 19, 2014 4:08 PM (in response to concretenz)Hello from a couple years in the future.

17. Re: Illustrator CS5 15.0.2 crash when Save for Web and Devices (Mac)
concretenz Jul 25, 2014 7:34 PM (in response to Melissa McDowell)Pleasure, I had hours with Adobe, they were trying to help (level 2), I sent crash reports. After no joy and reinstalling Mac OS X and Adobe Creative Suite about 5 times only to have a fix for a short time. Then I decided to read the crash report, there it was as clear as day. Still waiting for my freebee from Adobe
It felt good to solve it.
