Flash Player won't install properly in Mac

I have repeatedly attempted to install the most current version of Adobe Flash Player in my 10.8.4 Mac without success.  Actually it installs, but does not give me opportunity to accept your terms (which I am willing to do).  When I try to open a file, it is black.  What do I have to do to get this to work properly?

Download the offline installer here

Quit your browser

Go to: Mac HD/Library/Internet Plugins

Trash the Flash Player.plugin file from there

Go to: Mac HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe

Trash the Flash Player folder (the whole folder) from there

Empty the trash

Mount the DMG and run the installer

Relaunch your browser

Thank you. I followed each of the steps below, and actually accepted terms (hurray), but unfortunately, I still get a black, blank page when opening a PDF. Unfortunately, problem is not solved. Other ideas?

You DIDN'T say it was a PDF problem... That makes a lot of difference being this is the FLASH PLAYER forum and has nothing to do with Adobe Reader.

Climbing off my soap box, here's what to do:

Quit your browser (Safari)

Go to: Mac HD/Library/Internet Plugins again

Trash the AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin files

Empty the trash

Realunch Safari

PDFs will now open

My apologies for my ignorance and error.

When I got to the HD/Library/Internet Plugins, I found no plugins at all to trash.

When trying to open a PDF at my bank's website, I get this message: "Before viewing PDF documents in this browser you must launch Adobe Reader and accept the End User License Agreement, then Quit and relaunch the browser". I see no opportunity to accept end user's agreement upon reinstallation.

What do I need to do to fix?

Thanks in advance for your patience.

Have you tried launching Reader outside of your browser?

My confusion stemmed from an odd coincidence. I loaded Flash Player to my mac, and very shortly afterwards found myself unable to open PDFs. Apparently there is no connection, but the timing is odd…

I did as you suggested, and launched adobe reader from outside of Safari. Didn't work, but when I rebooted, it now does.

I hope this is the end of it - and I thank you for your help.

Odd. Usually a reboot isn't necessary. Anyway, glad I could help.

I sure hope so... I'm really beginning to wonder if it will ever work.... Please let me know anything you may have discovered.

Thanks,

Junie,

Hi...

I really appreciate your assistance.... I installed firefox. I have MAC version 10.5.8... I think I should have stated that on my prior post......sorry.

The version of firefox I installed on this mac works until I attempt to use a app that requires flash. I updated the flash player with the correct version that firefox requires.

to no avail will the plugin update. when attempting to update the plugins, I get a message from firefox telling me that I do not have the required system in the mac in order to update the plugins.

So...I am going to continue to investigate and analyze where I am going wrong in my attempts to reinstall adobe flash on this mac....

I will keep you apprised to my outcome. Any further assistance that you may possibly provide me would be Great!!

Thanks again,

Scott

Hello,

Flash Player no longer supports Mac version 10.5.8.  The last version supported for 10.5.8 is 10.3.183.90.  You can download 10.3.183.90 here, http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/installers/archive/fp_10.3.183.90_archive_mac_only.....

If the content you are attempting to view requires a newer version, you'll need to upgrade the OS version to install a newer version of Flash Player.

You tried to download from a link that is one year old; get the latest installer from http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/support/install_flash_player_osx.dmg
