1. Re: I have no Add-Ons add-on in Illustrator cc2014
Jonathan Ferman Jul 30, 2014 5:18 AM (in response to ashtangakasha)Hi Allen,
That's right we no longer have the Adobe Exchange Panel for CC 2014 apps because it was a Flash based panel that would not work in apps like Photoshop CC 2014 and the company is moving away from Flash panels. We realised that if we moved to the Web we could support more Adobe apps and most importantly give a better experience. We also changed the way you can install we use the Creative Cloud desktop app and that means you can acquire products from smartphones and tablets and they get synced to your Creative Cloud enabled computer.
You can get to Add-ons in many of the CC 2014 apps and also directly at:
https://creative.adobe.com/addons
You can also watch an overview video here: Adobe Add-ons | Adobe Exchange | Adobe TV
Hope that helps.

2. Re: I have no Add-Ons add-on in Illustrator cc2014
ashtangakasha Jul 30, 2014 4:30 PM (in response to Jonathan Ferman)Hi Jonathan,
I had gone through several endless loops of "your extension manager needs to be updated" and then infinite hourglass state, and a few other catch-22 scenarios. I ended up deleting the extension manager (which appeared to be only for CS6) and also the panel (which always tried to update but hung).
Now there appears to be no in-app method in Illustrator for getting to the add-ins at Adobe. Is this correct?
Thanks,
Allen

3. Re: I have no Add-Ons add-on in Illustrator cc2014
Jonathan Ferman Jul 30, 2014 4:53 PM (in response to ashtangakasha)Have you got File syncing turned on in the Creative Cloud desktop app (you can find it under the Assets menu). If so I would go to http://creative.adobe.com/addons/my_addons and try clicking Remove and then click Install. If that does not work you can click on the Install issues and follow the details here:
Another way to install Add-ons (updated), but I am hopeful that sync install via the CC desktop app will work.

ashtangakasha Jul 30, 2014 10:36 PM (in response to Jonathan Ferman)Yes, syncing is on and working, so that's not the problem. (Though it is something people may often miss if they've turned of sync or paused it.)
Apparently there's no in-app panel for extensions anymore. I hadn't realized this, so when I had trouble installing the updated panel, which required installing an updated Extension Manger (which may have installed, but didn't communicate with the out of date panel), I figured I was in a deep hole filled with bugs.
Turns out, there is no panel for CC now, so none of the above was necessary. The CC Extension Manager is installed and working, and now that I understand it no longer has to communicate with some (nonexistent) panel in Illy, I think there's no problem remaining.
I'll grab a few CC-specific extensions and see how they fly. I suspect everything will work.
Thanks for the input. FYI, the "Another way" link you provided seems to be for CS6 only, so it wasn't applicable to my particular confusion.
Allen
