1. Re: Android - Scrollable Frame adding drop shadows
Bob Levine Jul 30, 2014 11:57 AM (in response to beautifulgrbage)Is this the same folio as you're using for the iPad or did you create a new one?

2. Re: Android - Scrollable Frame adding drop shadows
beautifulgrbage Jul 30, 2014 12:03 PM (in response to Bob Levine)hey Bob!
It's a new folio we created specifically for Android.
The new folio references essentially the same files for the individual articles. We did make some changes to the articles to make things fit a little nicer on screen etc. But essentially all the interaction etc. is the same as in our iOS source files.

3. Re: Android - Scrollable Frame adding drop shadows
Bob Levine Jul 30, 2014 12:06 PM (in response to beautifulgrbage)And you’re sure you used PDF? And the scroll is vector?
Check the DPS dashboard. Make sure there’s no previews.

4. Re: Android - Scrollable Frame adding drop shadows
beautifulgrbage Jul 30, 2014 12:16 PM (in response to Bob Levine)Bob Levine - we are just going to double check that now, but I am fairly confident that we have used the correct settings as all of our other overlays don't seem to be affected by this issue.
After your awesome advice on correcting the rendering issues, we went through all of our source files and corrected every article to use the "PDF" format and set all the overlays to "Vector". We have esssentially reused these source files for the Android build of the app.
It looks like this issue is only occurring on our scrollable frames which is so odd?

5. Re: Android - Scrollable Frame adding drop shadows
Bob Levine Jul 30, 2014 12:19 PM (in response to beautifulgrbage)If you created a new folio for the Android you’d need to set those again for the new folio. Just double check both so we can eliminate that.
And just to be sure…you are using the native Android viewer, right? What version is the folio set for?

6. Re: Android - Scrollable Frame adding drop shadows
beautifulgrbage Jul 30, 2014 12:20 PM (in response to Bob Levine)Hey Bob... just wanted to confirm... we went back and checked...
All of our scrollable frames are indeed set to "vector" and the article format is set to "PDF"
Whats strange is that other overlays in the same article with the same settings seem to be un-affected?
So far ONLY our scrollable frames seem to be affected by this? and it's not that they have quality issues... the type is still nice and sharp... it just has this weird glow or shadow added to the objects that is the same color and this makes the text and icons appear almost blurry until you look really closely.
Very strange issue indeed!
Thanks for all your help and advice!

7. Re: Android - Scrollable Frame adding drop shadows
beautifulgrbage Jul 30, 2014 12:22 PM (in response to Bob Levine)Bob Levine - Yep, we are using the newer "Native" content viewer. Definitely not the legacy one.
The folio viewer version is set for "26" - could this need to be set back for Android or something??

8. Re: Android - Scrollable Frame adding drop shadows
Bob Levine Jul 30, 2014 12:35 PM (in response to beautifulgrbage)I’m a bit stumped. This doesn’t show up at all on screen in InDesign? This is happening on all scrollable frames in all articles?
-
9. Re: Android - Scrollable Frame adding drop shadows
beautifulgrbage Jul 30, 2014 12:42 PM (in response to Bob Levine)Bob Levine - Agreed! Stumped as well...
Doesn't show up at all in inDesign... and appears on absolutely all scrollable frames throughout the app.
I am starting to wonder if this is maybe a hardware issue or something? We are testing on a samsung note, but I can't seem to find any references to samsung hardware doing this anywhere else...
Very odd issue!

12. Re: Android - Scrollable Frame adding drop shadows
Andrey_ZR Aug 1, 2014 9:06 AM (in response to Bob Levine)Bob, we experiencing the same issue. It started with v31 and appears at all available devices: Sony, Asus, Samsung. Previous scrolls, that we made in v30.3 a month ago, was ok.

17. Re: Android - Scrollable Frame adding drop shadows
beautifulgrbage Aug 1, 2014 10:36 AM (in response to Neil Enns - Adobe)Neil Enns - Adobe - Nope.... iOS is totally fine... strictly an Android Issue.

18. Re: Android - Scrollable Frame adding drop shadows
Andrey_ZR Aug 1, 2014 10:41 AM (in response to Neil Enns - Adobe)I can't check it on iOS - folio size is different from iPad, Content Viewer shows me nothing.

19. Re: Android - Scrollable Frame adding drop shadows
Neil Enns - Adobe Aug 1, 2014 12:29 PM (in response to Andrey_ZR)Hi all,
Thanks for sharing the folios. It looks like we have a bug in the most recent release. We'll investigate next week and get a fix out in 31.2, which is due in just a couple of weeks.

20. Re: Android - Scrollable Frame adding drop shadows
beautifulgrbage Aug 1, 2014 1:12 PM (in response to Neil Enns - Adobe)Neil Enns - Adobe - Thanks for clearing that up!
Any chance you could provide a more exact date for when this will be released?
We will need to let our client know that we will need to delay the release of the android version of the app because of this issue.
Thanks so much!

21. Re: Android - Scrollable Frame adding drop shadows
Bob Levine Aug 1, 2014 1:14 PM (in response to beautifulgrbage)What if you actually set a dropshadow but set it to zero transparency?
-
22. Re: Android - Scrollable Frame adding drop shadows
David Herrera Aug 1, 2014 1:17 PM (in response to beautifulgrbage)beutifulgrbage: The exact release date is August 18th. One workaround is to set the scrollable frames to raster, but, given the comments above, it seems you set them to vector for a reason. Full raster folios also don't exhibit this issue.
Bob: I like how you think

Dave

24. Re: Android - Scrollable Frame adding drop shadows
beautifulgrbage Aug 1, 2014 1:21 PM (in response to Neil Enns - Adobe)Neil Enns - Adobe - Also just noticing another strange issue that may be related.
It seems that opening up a video overlay forces the video into portrait orientation - even though we have specifically set this as a single orientation folio. This happens no matter how you hold the tablet, and even if you don't move it at all?
Should I branch this into another thread?

25. Re: Android - Scrollable Frame adding drop shadows
beautifulgrbage Aug 1, 2014 1:24 PM (in response to David Herrera)@David Herrera - Thanks so much for the update and the possible fixes!
Bob Levine - As always you advice is much appreciated!
We are going to try out a couple of those work arounds and will post updates back in this thread.
Thanks everyone for your help tracking down the source of this issue!

27. Re: Android - Scrollable Frame adding drop shadows
David Herrera Aug 1, 2014 1:45 PM (in response to Neil Enns - Adobe)Before you do, make sure device rotation is on on the device. That's the only way I can reproduce the issue, but it's as expected: 1. Outside of app, set device to portrait. 2. Lock rotation. 3. Go into folio and play a video and set to full screen. 4. Video stuck in portrait. With rotation unlocked, this doesn't reproduce.
Thanks,
Dave -
28. Re: Android - Scrollable Frame adding drop shadows
beautifulgrbage Aug 1, 2014 2:00 PM (in response to David Herrera)Bob Levine - So we tried a couple of quick tests with by adding a drop shadow, and we also tried adding a glow to the elements, both at 0% opacity. This didn't seem to have any effect on the issue.
Awesome thought, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to have any affect on things.

30. Re: Android - Scrollable Frame adding drop shadows
Andrey_ZR Aug 3, 2014 11:43 PM (in response to beautifulgrbage)Have found a workaround for this: use solid color background under the scroll. In this case drop shadow disappears.

31. Re: Android - Scrollable Frame adding drop shadows
Addie_TM Aug 8, 2014 11:44 AM (in response to Andrey_ZR)We've been having the same issue and this was an effective workaround for the time being. Thanks for suggesting it!
